    I bought a shockwave

I love mine. I put an Sb M4 on it along with a side saddle. TL racker going on it next. It’s a fun gun, and it makes a great castle defender in a compact package.

What fairly common ammo stayed available during the Corona virus freak out?

I haven’t had trouble finding 150 grain .308 for the Socom. 9mm and 40 is harder to find. I can still feed the 45 colt and 357. Grabbed some 22lr and mag as I can. I’ve bought more than I’ve shot but not more than I normally do. I’m not jumping on the bandwagon. Got more x39 than I have mags...

    Urban settings: M14, M1 underappreciated?

I served a dozen years in law enforcement, including a handful of years doing high risk warrant service and fugitive recovery. I’d clear my house with my Socom 16 if I didn’t have better options available. For bumps in the night I’ll stick to my Glock or AK or shorty shotty. That said, where I...

What is the last gun that you bought?

Cabela's Pietta 1873 in 45 Colt with a color case hardened frame and octagonal barrel. 1873s never came with an octagonal barrel that I am aware of, but dang if it aint pretty. The base model was matte (and on my list, too) and it was only fifty dollars less.

    642 Club Part Three

Finally got my 442 a few days ago. I have been dry firing like a mad man and it is smoothing out. Still heavy, but definitely better. Going to shoot it this weekend. Any thoughts on the 9 lb trigger kit? I cant wait to shoot this thing!

Two latest acquisitions both date to 1910.

I have always loved the tacticool stud, but as I have grown, I continue to appreciate the classics more and more. Old guns rule.

    .22 Question

A .22 1911 is a lot of fun. As are 10/22s and Marlin Model 60s. My favorite rifle is a Marlin. 22 mag bolt action. Lots of fun and super accurate. A little pricier that. 22 long rifle, but I love it anyway.

What gun conversations/threads do you not engage in? Not trying to be ironic.

Anything about religion or politics. My religion is mine, and so are my politics. Yours are yours. People forget that that's ok. Doesn't seem to be an issue on this forum, but the guy behind the counter needs to sell guns, not degrade other peoples beliefs.

    any people of color?

I am white. My fiancee is black. We have gotten some looks and comments (under their breath) from a few people. Those people are bigots and cowards, so we really don't pay them much mind. You do quickly see who is prejudice when in our position. We have had more trouble in Mississippi than NW...

    642 Club Part Three

My birthday is coming up this weekend and I gave up smoking almost a year ago. So to pat myself on the back I am jointing the club with a new 442. Put it on lay away last week, and picking it up next week. Looks like a great little gun. Cant wait to start shooting. :D

Guns on your short list (limit to 3)

442 M1A Sharps carbine. Everything but the 442 has to wait until after I get hitched.

Which is a higher priority for you, in the gun-acquisition strategy?

Neither, really. I buy whatever strikes my fancy and what I know I will shoot.

M-1 Carbines or M-1 Garands, anyone? South Korea auctions guns to fund miltary

I have a Blue Sky import that is in good shape. It is a 560### serial number, which dates the receiver to 1942, IIRC. Clean, and a decent finish. The wood has a few dents and dings, but I kind of like that. It has been shot a lot, I can tell you that much :D. It will get a new barrel in the next...

I joined the other day. I'll be sure to keep an eye on that site.

    Best 22 mag rifle?

My Marlin 882 SS is way more accurate than I am. I am constantly amazed by it. I also owned a similar Marlin with a wood stock and blued barrel. Same thing with that one. I want to find it and get it back. Traded it in a moment of foolishness.
