    Build a AR?

If you want a basic M4gery you won't save anything by assembling it yourself. But if you're wanting something more that fits a niche or mimics some military version you can save a little. Yep that too. I've put together my spin on several a Recce/Mk12 mod H, a Mk18 SBR and while unintended my...

How Many Extra Magazines Per Handgun?

I probably fit the bill for "I have a magazine collection problem". I'm a little obsessive/compulsive so mags need to be even numbers. 1 is none and 2 is 1 lol. The collector stuff like my 1903 Colt or Colt huntsman need at least one and a spare, although the P38 and Makarov have 4 each. The...

    SBR Lowers and Caliber Changes

You only need to notify the ATF of a caliber change if you can't return it to the original.

Do you like the 7.5" barrel?

I've had a few over the years. Now I'm down to only 1 that's longer than 6" and that's a Uberti Bisley in 38-40. It's not that I dislike then I just like short barrels better.

Thinking about a RIA 22 AR style.

I highly recommend them I have used a lot of their parts including a 9" 22 lr barrel bolt upper kit that I used to assemble a 22 upper to match my 300 blackout SBR. It's been reliable from the jump and is very accurate. It's the detached upper on top.

    Plinking / teaching optic for a 10/22

Good point especially for a 10/22 or similar where cheek rise would be an issue. I originally thought I was gonna have to put the Spitfire on my 9mm AR and use the SPARC II on the Charger until I saw that the Spitfire has a removable riser.

    Plinking / teaching optic for a 10/22

The compact prism scopes have etched reticle that can be used without illumination Midway has the 1x and 3x Vortex spitfire on sale right now and the Burris 1X. I just ordered the 1x Spitfire for my Ruger Charger

    Who scopes their .22s?

Dad's 63 Winchester still wears the 2.5X Bushnell it's worn my entire life. My Browning SA22 has his old B&L Balfor 4X. My Savage bolt and 22 AR both have 3-12X and the 10/22 and Ruger precision rimfire both have 6-24X. I also have a 22 upper to match my SBR 300 blackout that wears the same 1-5X...

24" Barrel in 44 Mag Lever Action?

Yep the hydra-shok is probably the closest to a full power load and it's at least 200 fps shy. There's no reason to use a slow and bulky powder to achieve mid range and economics says it's not smart to use 20 grains of powder when 10 grains of a different powder works fine.

What was your first marksmanship badge of honor? .....

When I took hunter's safety, they let us shoot 5 rounds of 22 from a bolt action single shot. 4 shooters at a time each with an instructor close at hand, when my instructor looked at my target with 4 clover leafed in the x and 1 about 1/2" away proclaimed "this isn't your first time shooting"

Building a lighter AR didn't work out so well...

Before I spend $300 on a handguard to lose 3 or 4 oz, I'd just skip breakfast my fat butt could sure afford to miss a meal easier lol.
