    30-06 replacement

The .270 Win isn't flatter than the .30-06. With both shooting 150 gr bullets, at 500 yrds the .270 drops 60" while the .30-06 drops 47". The advantage of the .270 is you can load lighter bullets. However, loaded with 130 gr bullets, the .270 still drops 48". The .25-06 is flatter, but...

    Winchester Model 70 Featherweight ?

From the Winchester website (www.winchesterguns.com) it looks to be a 1976 production model.

    Strange 460 XVR question...

Poking around other forums I find a lot of people posting that they have several thousand rounds (of .460 or .500, I figure they are comparable at least for this topic) through their XVRs with no apparent wear. One poster claims to have over 8,000 full-house loads through his .500 with no...

    Dan Wesson 500 S&W?

At a minimum any gunsmith should be able to check the dimensions of the cylinders and bore to decide what caliber it might be. From there you can probably start sorting out what you've got.

    Dan Wesson 500 S&W?

A lot of the wildcat work was done on early supermag frames. And the shrouds are interchangeable. So that it has a .357SuperMag shroud doesn't mean much. I have a .44Rhino (one of the wildcats) that looks a lot like yours - Monson frame, mismatched shroud, etc. Might have been an early...

    .45 Auto Rim question

And Reed's ammo. I have 300 or 400 .45ARs in inventory, shoot them all the time in my several .45acp revolvers.

    Dan wesson 44 magnum

The old Dan Wessons are excellent revolvers and hugely undervalued. I have several of the SuperMags plus a .357Mag. I'd love to have a .44Mag.

    357 vs. 45, CCW sidearm

    I looked at a 6-shot 3-in barrel .357 today at a local gun shop.

Does your gun club allow booze?

Rifle range, no. Skeet club has a bar with wine and beer, but if you drink they won't let you back on the field.

    French Shooter & Gun Laws

I have an Arsenal in my CAR!! I chuckled when I heard a tv report that said, with shock in the reporter's voice, "The shooter had THOUSANDS of rounds of ammunition...."

    Range Charges!

My main range is the Carson range - no fee for anything! I also frequent the indoor range over in Grass Valley (CA), no fee for bringing in your own ammo (great range, btw), and then Safe Shot in Reno (also indoor). They prohibit ammo brought in, you must buy their lead-free and over priced...

New 10mm in the house tonight

Not familiar with the Omega but 10mm is a fantastic caliber! I have a S&W 1076 pistol and 610 revolver, both in 10mm. And would love to pick up a 1911.

New (to me) 45 ACP Revolvers

    I have a 625 JM, fantastic revolver!

    Ruger LCR-22

The LCR38 only ways 13.5 ounces so I'm sure the 22Mag wouldn't weigh more than that.

    Defense Gun....

You can address the over penetration issue by loading the revolver with a variety of ammo choices (one has already been suggested), including .38+P, the modern high-expansion .357M SD rounds or the .357M light-loads developed for just this scenario.
