So, just a followup. I'm going to use the VX-1. I have it loosely mounted to my gun. Tight enough to not move, but not tight enough to shoot likely. Also, I just eyeballed the level of the reticle to the gun, etc. I will say I'll likely feel better if I get this thing professionally...

What are other uses for torque screwdriver besides scope mounting. Trying to decide if I should get one. I've never assembled anything that says that it needs a specific torque setting before with screws.

Ok, just read up on that. I understand what it is now and I can't say I recall any distortion on the reticle or fuzzyness. Both images seemed "crisp" to me, but the 33mm seemed darker and "no better" than the vx-1. Bottom line, no diopter adjustments were made. I really didn't know. Scope...

Dagnabit. I was all set on opening my vx-1 box tonight! The VX-2 they had at Cabela's was the 2-7x33mm. The amount of light/brightness was notable dimmer than even the VX-1 (40mm). I didn't think the VX-2 was better per say as I was comparing to the VX-1 40mm. It was fine, just more muted...

Thanks everyone. I went with a traditional hunting scope 3-9x40mm. I'm not a target shooter (yet) and want versatility and modest cost. I plan on building an AR15 and like that I could use it on that. If I decide later I want a dedicated .22 I can do it then.
