I spent six years in the Army and the most important year was the one that I spent in Alaska. It was at the right time in my life I guess, I became a bona fide gun nut. Time spent in West Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina reinforced that.
I am a book geek, I read a lot, and I recall about 2% of it, but it's a pastime. I think about a lot of things, but then my head hurts; so I stop and take a 5 hr nap.
