Sheepdog mentioned practice and getting intimately familiar with the gun. A very astute piece of advice.
How many have this image when they are thinking of home defense....
There are no visible marks except for on the barrel by the rear site dovetail which says 45-70 CREEDMORE - and I've been told that it is misspelled and the the CREEDMOOR were in 44 cal in original Remingtons. There are no markings that I can see on the receiver.
If this is a rebarreled...
The biggest advantage to me for a 300 mag versus 338 Lapua is price. Locally, 338 loaded ammo is in the same ballpark as 50 bmg. Brass is very expensive also.
my experience - I bought two 45-70s - the 1895 Cowboy and the 1895 guide gun. Both of these were bought in the 2000s, I waited about 6months after each was introduced to buy one.
The quality on those is much better than the 1894s I bought in the early 1980s. My 1894s had screws that...

I think this post needs some clarification -
45LC can be shot in a 454 casull
45LC and 454 casull can, to my knowledge be shot in the 460 smith
Neither A 454 casull round or 460 S&W can be shot in a 45LC. Won't fit, and if by some fluke a 454 would fit in a 45LC cylinder the pressure is...
1. liked the 2nd part of it best. Part 1 was kinda slow.
2. On Pawn Stars, someone came into the shop with a 1892 Winchester they said was passed down through the family and supposedly used by an escaping hatfield. Even if the feud continued to some degree into the 1930s, my...
I had shot Unique plinking loads in 44 mag for years, but 7.5 grains seems light. I found that I like Trail Boss for mild loads in 44mag and 454 casull
