    Bergara bolt wont eject case

Very likely since this is a brand new gun that there may be a bit of mgf debris hanging up the ejector. I'll give that a whirl and see if that helps.

    Bergara bolt wont eject case

Greetings. I have a brand new Bergara HMR Premier Pro in .308. I cleaned the bore and wiped down the bolt with light gun oil to remove all mfg oils. Cleaned off oil carefully and slid bolt back in place. I made a dozen test shots with some Winchester factory rounds to get me on paper and...

Backing off the bullet seating depth

This is exactly my reasoning @Bfh_auto. If 20 - 40 thousandths is a typical safe range, I simply split the middle to back the depth off 30 thousandths. I don't feel this number is arbitrary at all, in fact, I think I made a darn good decision with this number. As @Jack B. quotes directly...

Backing off the bullet seating depth

I see your point, but isn't store bought shelf ammo just a likely to offer the same longshot odds of tripping across a good store bought load? A bullet maker would have much less information on my particular rifle than I do after measuring my particular projectile til it touches the rifling. I...

Backing off the bullet seating depth

I'd say the cleaning rod would INVARIABLY be miles from the gun. And the more critical the situation, the greater the distance would be.

Backing off the bullet seating depth

For sure @Jack B. , if I was shooting for groups, I'd be much more critical and do multiple sessions of load workups and testing. In my area, shots on wild hogs and whitetails are usually less than 150 yards. We hunt from tree stands and tower stands, and often setup bait piles at 100 yards...

Backing off the bullet seating depth

Yes, my bad on the terminology. Base to ogive is what I'm measuring.

Backing off the bullet seating depth

Good information...thanks! If I back off 30 thousandths, that will put me at 2.222 which is an easy number to remember and deal with. Since this is an all purpose hunting round, I'll be glad for 1.5 MOA groups and not stress too much over things.

Backing off the bullet seating depth

I used a Hornady bullet OAL gauge to find the ogive distance to the rifling in a new Bergara .308 bolt gun. If I have consistent readings of OAL 2.2525 ogive to the rifling, what would be an acceptable distance to back that off? How much jump would I want to start with for a few test loads...

.308 loading for new Bergara HMR Premier Pro

I've reloaded a few years but would be considered an occasional or seasonal (hunting) reloader. I have RCBS dies for my RCBS single stage loader(s). I have two loaders so my sizing/decapping die stays in its loader, and the bullet seating die stays in a separate loader. I stick to .308 so not...

    Looking for scope suggestions

My new Bergara HMR rifle needs a scope, so I'm in the market to buy something reasonably priced for this .308. I have Zeiss and Swarovski on other rifles I own, so I am familiar with their quality....AND their prices. So I'm looking for a $1,000 - $1,500 scope (or in that range) that allows me...

Bergara HMR B-14 vs Bergara HMR Premier Pro

I'll post some follow up thoughts after the rifle comes in and I have a chance to do some range testing. I'll likely leave the gun standard as it comes, and with the reported accuracy the HMR is capable of shooting, I doubt I'll be searching for a new barrel. I see your point for sure, and if...

Bergara HMR B-14 vs Bergara HMR Premier Pro

Thank you both much for the nod of approval. I became interested in this Bergara rifle based on the recommendation from a hunting buddy. He has a keen eye for a good rifle, so when he suggested Bergara, I listened and started reading. I don't think I have read a bad review in the dozens of...

Bergara HMR B-14 vs Bergara HMR Premier Pro

Anyone have experience with choices between these two versions? Product literature lists a key upgrade feature as a TriggerTech Frictionless trigger in the Pro, and reviews on this gun really seem to like the trigger upgrade. I am a trigger man to be sure, so this is a very important plus in...

    Bergara HMR - 6.5 Creedmore

I have a good amount of H4350 on hand if I make the decision to go with 6.5CM. Sounds like a winner!
