Not so much a gunsmithing thing, but with regards to reloading , I have a LEE progressive press. I got it from a friend who was frustrated with it. I've since polished some parts, lubed, unlubed, bent, and tweaked, disassembled then reassembled several times.... I can now sit down and run 1000...
I've been a carpenter for 25 years. I'm a damned good finish carpenter, and that's a dieing trade as well. What I used to make a good living at is not what pays my bills. Along the way I raced dirt bikes. At my age I know I cannot retire, and my body will not allow me to continue my trade. My...
I just went through a similar experience. I had a rifle rebarreled.
The UPS lady made like she had issues with it. I assured her that it was only gun parts. The shooting parts were not in the package. All went well with the delivery... Both ways
I'm not panicking... But I would sure feel better with about 3000 more 9mm projectiles.
Ive been stocking up on everything else since September.
Now I've decided to learn long range rifle too. Anyone have any spare 260rem does lying around?
Thank you again for the input. I think I will be going with .260 rem of I can find a barrel soon.
Who makes a good lightweight stock.... That won't break the bank
Thanks for the input. As far as a barrel goes, looks like Krieger is 7 months out. I've emailed PAC-NOR, but will wait until the holidays are through before any response. Any other barrel suggestions? And is the plastic stock worth using ( it's cheap and lightweight )
How do the .260 do against windage and heat..... Utah and New Mexico July kinda heat
As far as accuracy... Eventually an f class rifle, but for this just steel plate
I am planning on doing a long range shoot combined with an adventure race. I have a Savage 10 to build on. I need to be able to shoot out to 1000m accurately enough and carry it along with other gear for about 30 hours start to finish. I am thinking a 24" barrel in a 1/12 twist to shoot heavier...
I gotta laugh out of this thread.
I would like to know, that if the size of the hole is what matters, then why do people hunt deer with a .308 or .30-30 and not a .45?
I have experienced this with my lee press also. I remove the die. Then place it in a vice, holding the flat sides where the deprime pine goes in. Grab the brass with channel locks or vice grips and twist that sucker off. Check for any damage before re using it.
