    "Four Rules" for knives?

I dont think there are 4 universal rules when it comes to knives. Knives are so versatile it's impossible and impractical to pigeonhole what they can and cannot do. I do agree with keeping it sharp but some situations insist you cut towards yourself. Whittling is the first that comes to my...

    So my timing is off....

By my estimation it is only off by about .01". And yes I can see and feel the edge of the cylinder jutting out. @CraigC I didn't know that I had been misinformed on terminology. Care to elaborate slightly?

    So my timing is off....

I recently acquired an H&R 733 and I was running a health checkup (my first revolver so I'm taking my time) when it appears I have found the timing to be slightly off. At full lock up the cylinder appears to be rotated too far. How concerned should I be and if it is a major issue is there some...

Ammo questions for Remington R1 1911?

***This applies to my Remington r1 only and yours may differ so please do your own experimentation.*** So far I have tried (in hollowpoint) Hydra shocks 230gr, Winchester ranger t (IIRC), remington UMC bulk pack 230gr, and WWB 230gr and of the bunch, surprisingly enough, UMC and WWB are far and...

    Remington R1 Carry

I carry one every day and I'm quite impressed. It is rock solid and haven't had a single non-user-error malfunction yet. That being said in the same price range if your looking for 1911 I'd look at the Ruger sr1911. It seems a little better for about the same price assuming you can find one.

    Old Schrade

The first knife I ever bought was a USA made Schrade Uncle Henry back around 2000 when I was 10 or so and I carried a Schrade Outback for a few years. I'll agree with anyone that old Schrade is fantastic.

Let's be honest for a bit...

I carry an extra magazine for a lot of the same reasons others mentioned. I've always carried a lot of junk on my belt (multitools, flashlight, large knives) even before I got my HCP. At this point I feel extremely out of place if my belt isn't loaded up so I actually find it more comfortable to...

    Folding Throwing Star?

I may be incorrect but what you see there is simply a folding knife with three blades. Its a pretty common tacticool flea market style knife. However the specialty of this one is a separate three point "throwing star" hidden under the "hub cap" (for lack of a better phrase). I've owned a few...

    Clickety-Clackers

Blade edge handle. FWIW the lock attached to the blade edge is called batanga and of the lock is attached to the spine handle it is called Manila style IIRC. Point is neither is right it seems. Purely preference.

    Clickety-Clackers

I love balisongs and those are two beautiful blades to be sure. Edited to add: I actually prefer the other lock orientation for a couple of reasons. One I find the lock easier to operate as well as the knife itself seems to react better for me. Secondly, it greatly facilitates the lock drop...

Uncle Mikes...I need a better belt.

If you Luke nylon look at the bison designs heavy duty (although the light duty may work for a glock) last chance belt. Its what I'm using until I can afford a nice leather belt. I carry a full-size 1911 and its perfectly sufficient, made in the US, and not bad looking (if you like nylon)

    My Mosin Nagant project

I wanted to hate this... I wanted to say "No! You cannot take a piece of history and do this". You have destroyed my cynicism with what I must say is the most beautiful sporterizing job I have ever seen. I hope it shoots as good as it looks.

Besides handgun/magazines, what should be in EDC kit?

In addition to firearm, belt, keys, etc I would say Flashlight, pocket knife and/or multitool (though I've been known to carry more than one at a time for varying purposes), and ink pen/pencil/Sharpie, and ball cap because your never properly equipped until you Don some form of headwear. This...

Calibers and bullet type for ccw.

I didn't intend this to turn into a caliber war. Choosing a self defense caliber is as personal as choosing boxers or briefs so if we may just discuss the question at hand. And lets not forget revolver calibers if anyone has anything to say on those.

Calibers and bullet type for ccw.

Here's a good healthy discussion that'd be interesting to get opinions on. I'm assuming most, if not all, of us agree that in a standard sidearm in standard service calibers (9mm, .45 ACP, etc)the best option tends to be premium grade JHPs. However, ate there any calibers or bbl lengths one...
