    Stainless Cerakote

Sorry if I wasn't clear, a new stainless Bmag is in the neighborhood of 400 dollars, and my rifle is only worth around 200. That's 200 dollars out of pocket vs 100 dollars to have mine painted.

    Stainless Cerakote

I have a Savage Bmag as a truck/tractor gun that takes a beating. The factory bluing/parkerizing has a few scratches and dings that are starting to rust. A local shop has just gotten set up to do Cerakoting (not sure if it's really Cerakote, may be a similar type of product). I'm thinking...

    The shortage is over!

My local Academy (Springfield MO) is usually well stocked. Had Mini mags and several others on the shelf. I even saw some at Walmart. A LGS has Browning 400 round boxes for 23.99. A year ago I was happy to get it online for 10c a round, glad that is over with.

What are mosins going for nowadays?

I was going to mention this. When you can get a great shooting modern bolt gun in a variety of calibers for 300 bucks, a 225$ Mosin doesn't have much appeal.

What are mosins going for nowadays?

My brother just got one for 225 from a pawn shop. I considered that a good deal. Steel ammo is still pretty cheap and available. Surplus is tough to find.

Do you get what you pay for?

I'd like to be where you are. Most gun shops here have them just shy of 300 OTD, and there are only a couple on Gunbroker under 250, not including shipping and FFL.

Do you get what you pay for?

I had one for a while and loved it. It's one that I regret selling. It's was very accurate for a pistol carbine, 4-5 inches at 100 yards IIRC. I never had an issue with it, it ate whatever ammo I put in it. 9mm is super cheap too. Their warranty is fantastic if you need it, so I've read. Not...

    Tuning up an 870

I ran some shells through it yesterday.. Just low brass stuff busting clays. The jamming problem is still there. I can visibly see the front of the shell snagging on the bottom lip of the chamber, they aren't being lifted up all the way. If I back the slide up a little and try again they will...

    Tuning up an 870

Dropped the new follower spring in last night. Pretty significant difference between new and old. Haven't ran enough shells through to see if it fixed the problem though.

    Tuning up an 870

I've never had a shell stick and lock up the slide, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the chamber. They just don't seem to make it all the way up there reliably. Ive had it act up with many brand of shells.

    Tuning up an 870

I ran a couple boxes of shells through it today. The extractor and ejector seem to be working okay. Maybe one out of five doesn't seem kick up all the way into the chamber and catches. Would this be a worn carrier spring? If that's what works the carrier, it makes sense to me.

    Tuning up an 870

The ejector is visibly okay. I'd rather not replace it since I don't have the rivet cutter. Would bending it out a little help? I may just be short stroking it, I'll try to work it differently this weekend and see if that helps at all. It is a newer model with the flex tab carrier.

    Tuning up an 870

By extractor spring, do you mean the flat spring that's riveted to the receiver, or the spring that works the extractor claw in the bolt?

    Tuning up an 870

I bought an 870 Express Mag a couple years ago from a pawn shop. There's no telling how many rounds have been through the old gun, but it's still in pretty decent shape. I've got a renewed interest in busting clays and would like to get this gun running smooth again. The first issue is that the...
