    Shooting Apps for mobile phone

I use Strelok Pro. I have created a database with all my rifles, bullets, scopes etc. It has a multitude of great features. Changing a bullet is a easy as selecting it from my database. It calculates the zero offsets, vertical and horizontal and makes the appropriate changes for me. Then I just...

Interesting experience with a Savage barrel

Today it's shooting a little under 1/2" at 100 yards. Now in need to refine the load a little more and play with bullet seating. I'm happy with it but because I'm anal on squeezing every last bit of accuracy out of a rifle, I'll keep working it till I feel it won't get any better...

McCain Bill Destroys Historic WWII Firearms

Let's see - McCain, aka the canary (http://www.newtotalitarians.com/index_files/McCainSangLikeACanary.htm) also had all POW records sealed, including his own. Any wonder why his fellow prisoners shun him? Someone already said it - he's a RINO. And in case you're wondering, I'm former Special...

Interesting experience with a Savage barrel

Years ago I purchased a Savage 10FP in .308. It never shot well. Bad groups, sticky extraction and just typically a pain in the butt. So I went out, purchased a Shilen barrel in 6mm BR, screwed it on and never looked back. It was a real tack driver. The old .308 barrel sat all alone in the back...

I don't get loaded chamber indicators

These have to be what some lawyer thought was a litigation free solution to a non problem. My chambers are always loaded. A gun with an unloaded chamber is a stick or a paperweight. Guns in my safe all have a chamber flag inserted and very obvious. If it's holstered, or on my nightstand (fancy...

    considering new CC platform

I wish you the best on your journey - better pack a lunch as it's going to be not only a long one, but you'll encounter a lot of speed bumps along the way! Searching for a perfect CC pistol is like looking for the Holy Grail! I've been there myself, on many occasions. I ended up with three -...

    Ruger LC9

I have, among other guns, a Ruger LC9s. I carry it occasionally because it fits nicely in either the front pocket or in my Kusiak IWB holster. Probably 90% of the time I carry a Sig P250sc with extended mag, but when that's inconvenient, it's the LC9s and occasionally the LCP - but rarely. I...

    Question on S&B 9mm brass

It's definitely not Mak brass. The ID measures the same as all other 9mm brass. Head stamp also says 9mm luger. I picked up over 20 of them today, and everyone was exactly the same length. I know what you are saying about head spacing on the case mouth, and wondered why they would be .040...

    It's not grandpa's 10-22, still fun though

Been wanting to build one myself but can't seem to find just a receiver. Hate to but an entire rifle cause I'll only have to sell the parts. some day...... BTW - I really like the way yours turned out. The groupings are pretty impressive too.

    Issue throwing Unique

I like Unique, but that being said, I always have a problem with it in my Dillon measures. I do not run near the top of the load chart, so if it's off .1 - .2 grains either way that's ok. For the plinking / paper shooting I'm doing, it's fine. I much prefer ball powders for the pistol...

    Bullet defect question

Don't know the cause but I would chuck them back in the pot and remelt them. Accuracy may seem acceptable but I'll bet leading would be terrible. Yup - remelt 'em.

    Question on S&B 9mm brass

I came across some 9mm head stamped S&B. It is 9mm Luger, but .040 shorter than regular 9mm. See the attached photo. Has anyone seen this before and do you reload it or just chuck it in the recycle bucket? Why do you think they do this? To save money? .040 less brass on a case over...

Some musings about ammo and such

Jeepmor - you nailed it. Because we enjoy it is the real reason, and yes, I also agree, we can never have too much ammo. I think everyone is correct - there's no real right answer since it's all up to the individual. If we enjoy it then we should pursue it. Different calibers - you betcha -...

Time to add a step to our brass sorting process...

S&B short cases Scrounging range brass I just came across several S&B 9mm which were .040 shorted than standard 9mm, yet the head stamp was labeled S&B 9mm Luger. Just one more to cull for now!

Some musings about ammo and such

I was sitting in my basement earlier today and looking at my reloading bench, specifically at the amount of ammunition I have, and began to wonder. I have a variety of guns, from Black powder, to revolvers, pistols, and several rifles in different calibers. I reload for most everything except...
