If you care about the trigger, stay away from the cheap S&W pistols. The trigger is dreadful and can only be made somewhat less dreadful. The SR9c is a fine gun, mine has thousands of rounds through it with nary an issue and a decent trigger...

There is likely a large VA based gun forum and most of them have a classifieds section. I have acquired 95% of my collection from private sales. Find a local forum, get to know the folks there, and you'll likely find what you're looking for as well as folks to shoot with...

I have shot a lot of pin matches and I always used store bought 230gr FMJ. I won my share of these matches and with clean hits the pins will leave the table. I have shot matches with lighter faster rounds and the results were not as good as big & slow.

The G-19 is probably the "gold standard" of small to mid size semi autos, period. I am as far from a Glock fanboy as you can find and even I have one. If it came down to getting rid of my G-19 or my Ruger SR9c - I'd probably keep the SR9c as it feels better in my hand...
