I don't think the subcompact was around that long....could be wrong.
I held one and liked the ergos, but it seemed really chunky and heavy compared to, say a Glock 43X- or even a 19 for that matter.

Its a kinda-sorta Belgian copy of the Webley RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary). Cartridge could be anything, maybe even .30-something rimfire.

Ya, assuming the other side looks that good and it was mechanically sound, $900 was a very good price. Last decent Heavy Duty I saw at the show had $1800 on the sticker.
It is an M&P, AKA Pre-Model 10. The "20" is just an assembly number, it wasn't until after '57 that the model number would have been stamped there.
The actual Model 20 is the post-'57 version of the N-Frame .38/44 Heavy Duty and is one of my grail guns. In that condition, a Model 20 would run...
Agreed, its an M81. Most of the markings would have been on the LH side of the barrel. It probably never had a serial number since they weren't required on .22s prior to 1968.
I had an M81E. It functioned fine, but was rather heavy and not terribly accurate, IME.
