Maglite for the car glove compartment

My glove box (actually console ) contains a an LED Mini Maglite (2 Lithium AA batteries). Bright enough 10 year life on batteries, so always ready. Don't need it for any sort of weapon.

    Blackthorn Walking Stick

I carry a cane regularly, for several reasons, not the least of which is that it's legal anywhere and everywhere. When woods walking I carry a 48-50 inch stick. All my sticks and canes are home made of either Hickory, Maple, Ash or Locust all capable of good hard strikes and all tipped with a...

    What your "borrow it" knife?

I don't loan knives. Sorta tuff love. You need a knife? Learn to carry your own. I will cut something for you, once, then you better get your own for the next time. I'm and old curmudgeon and my friends understand.

    Knife phobia

The only knife phobia I have is being caught without one! I grew up in a time when carrying a knife to school was acceptable and I have been carrying one daily since I was 8 years old. I refuse to go places that make me leave my knife in the car. I live in Arizona so that is rare and I haven't...

With the COVID-19 scare going on, are you out walking more? What stick are you using?

I walk daily, right now only about a mile and a half. Recently finished a 12 round session of Chemo Therapy and luckily I am in Remission, so now it's time to try a regain some of the weight and muscle mass I lost the last 7 months. Walking and light exercise is it for now. I do carry a cane...

J frame vs compact pistol ... expectations

First of all, revolvers and autos are measured differently in terms of barrel length. If you measured both from the rear of the cartridge the barrel length would be about the same. Second, are the sights really that much better with the auto? You should be well aquainted with your M60 sights by...

Concealed Carry or Open Carry While Hiking Public Trails

I carry concealed all the time. I just prefer that people don't know I am armed. Surprise is a key to self defense.

    Extra ammo while carrying

I carry a 2x2x2 pouch on my belt always, no one has ever asked about it. I also usually carry a speed strip in my pocket.

    What is your dream revolver?

Easy, my dream gun is a gun I once had and sold. A S&W M-60 (no dash) made in the mid 70's and at a price I can afford!

    Carry pistol failure..

I had a M60 for over 20 years wish I still had it) but now I carry either my 642-1 or 638-3. Both are great guns and I have never had a failure. I've been carrying j frames since 1978 when I started in police work. I carried a M19 then a M686 for first 15 years of my LE career and the only...

    What is your dream revolver?

Mine's easy a P&R M65 3" barrel. My house was burglarized back in '04 and mine was stolen along with 3 other guns. I was able to pick up a 65-1 4" which I love but I have never found a 3" at a price a retiree on a fixed budget can afford.

Accuracy issues in my snub- maybe the crown?

I have never understood why anyone would store a gun in a toolbox.

    S&W 66 2.5"

Well, I guess that much unlike others I prefer a 2" M64. Don't need or want 357 in a snubby and I just like the looks of a bobbed hammer M64.

    Accuracy with a .38 snub-nose

First, j frame snubbies can be very accurate but it does take practice. Shooting a 6" group at 15 yards should be easy with practice. It's also not the right gun to learn to shoot with. I would suggest a K frame with wadcutters to start. OP- buy one or better yet, rent one at a range and see...
