Looking for milsurp rifle with smooth (bolt, or not) action

K31 and Swedish Mauser, with the Enfield coming in close third. Redundant, I know, but these are great choices, and the first two are still relatively cheap. I would offer one other choice: Brazilian Mauser 1908, in 7x57. Mine is a tack driver. Got it for $200, with 4 boxes of ammo.

    M1 Carbine ammo suggestions...

Avoid Tula ammo. It's cheap, but nasty stuff. If you love your carbine, shoot Remington UMC, Sellier & Bellot, or Winchester. All the good ammo is priced pretty much the same. Wikiarms will show you the best priced, good ammo. Watch Sportsmansguide for opportunities for free shipping on...

Calling all S&W model 66 owners

I have S&W 66 and 67 from the 80s, and they are fine revolvers. But my all-time favorite .357 revolver is a model 66 Taurus with 6" barrel. I bought it used, so I don't know if a previous owner had it smoothed out, but it actually handles and shoots like a Python. Buttery smooth DA, and light...

    Walmart Perfecta ammo any good?

I compared the .45ACP Perfecta with Blazer Brass last week. In the two pistols I was using, the Perfecta gave better groups and was more accurate. Also compared the .38 Spl Perfecta to Magtec. Perfecta shot clean, and was more accurate, and grouped better. I was surprised, and if I...

I've reduced calibers a LOT, and am happy. You?

I did the same a couple years back. But then, the Mosin bug bit me again, so added 7.62x54r, then 7x57 Mauser, then 8mm Mauser, then (OMG) Help me, I'm a backslider!

Slide not locking back on last shot

I had the opposite problem with my Citadel (by Rock Island) 9mm 1911. The slide would lock back when there was still ammo in the magazine. I swapped out the slide stop, and the problem went away. I know that's not very helpful for your problem, but just thought I'd mention it.

    S&W M&P 9 Full Size

I never met an M&P I didn't like. A lot. I've had the 15, full size 9, full size .45, and a couple of Shield 9s. All 100% reliable, all shot accurately, and smoothly. I guess I bought the FS9 with the great trigger. ;) My home defense is the .45, with 10 round mag. Preferred carry is the...

Do you have a surprise gun?

Two that I am DELIGHTED with: Para Carry .45ACP. A young man at a gun show offered me the pistol, two holsters, and 4 mags, and night sights, for my Beretta 92G. The little 1911 is as accurate at 50' as any standard sized 1911 I've ever shot. Has a Match barrel, and the easiest DA trigger...

    Beretta M9 or 92FS?

    I lucked into a 92FS Centurion a while back, with 4 mags. $400. ;D

most accurate military bolt action rifle

My Brazilian Mauser model 1908 (7 X 57) is able to hit anything I can see. At 100 yards, a 1/2 piece of a 'clay'. on its side, broke it with one shot. I have a 1943 Springfield Garand that is that accurate. Who knows what either one would do with a good scope?

    .22 LR velocity

Sorry 'bout that. Relying on memory instead of going to check. Got me!

    .22 LR velocity

I should have included: CCI .22LR "AR" is shown on the package as 1400 fps. CCI Mini-Mag shows muzzle velocity of 1435.

    .22 LR velocity

Have you chrono'd the CCI Mini-Mag and CCI .22 AR? They are listed at 1435 and 1400 respectively. Pretty much all I shoot, and curious if they are "as listed".
