Keep in mind the tube is induction welded into the reciever if you break it lose your screwed it has to be returned to the factory for repairs .

Is it possible you have a remington shotgun and perhaps using the wrong type of choke tube it happens with mossbergs all the time someone screws in a rem choke it looks like it fits but has a gap that freezes the choke tube in place

it could be the newer 870 i have one it says remington 870 and thats all besides the serial number . you can find the date by the serial number

You might try birchwood casey walnut stain it has the red that comes close to Winchester Red i just did a model 37 turned out great and it matched the but stock

Wilson does great work Aiptactical does great work too but the remington steel program is tops for restoring an old 870 . The armor tuff coating is like dura coat a bake on finish it wears good and i have not had any complaints

Here in central ohio that gun would bring 450 to 550 with the deer barrel . its a really nice gun but you can find used ones like the matt finish for about 200 used

ALso check the underside of the barrel some of the barrels say made in Texas and under the for arm it says made in mexico .Thats why they are so cheap

Repace the magazine spring and remove and clean the shell stops . I have a 500 mossberg did the same thing the mag spring does'nt hold the next shell against the stop and it just slides right past tying the gun up .
