Flying with brass in check bags?

When I flew out of Albuquerque in November 2011, my cabin luggage tested positive for explosives. I had spent the previous evening cleaning guns & sorting brass before packing my bags. What the test looks for is nitrates & obviously these are found in propellants as well as explosives. I...

Is a shotgun louder than a rifle or pistol?

I fired around a dozen shots at pigeons with the 12ga this evening with no hearing protection but I wouldn't want to fire the same number of shots from the .270 without hearing protection. Maybe it's personal perception but the .270 seems a LOT louder.

Congresswoman Giffords Shooting: Pro RKBA responses to questions/concerns/accusations

I note some here asking what his motive was for shooting people other than Congresswoman Giffords. I had a long talk with a criminal psychologist about this topic last June, after an old friend of mine shot dead 12 people before killing himself. The killer's anger is almost always directed...

    Help, reloading UK

There is no way you will find a supplier to ship primers, powder, bullets or brass to the UK. Ammunition components require a State Department export license & for individual amounts, the cost isn't worth it. Theoretically, dies fall into the same category. For stuff that IS legal to export...

Thinking about a new press - Thoughts?

They're actually around $400 - almost the same as a Hornady L-N-L Progressive & without the 500 free bullets too. If I ever go progressive, the Rockchucker will remain in use for producing tight tolerance ammunition for accuracy & hunting. Meanwhile, I can still churn out 150 .45ACP an hour...

Can deeper bullet seating comp. for case over max. length?

I'm guessing you use a Lee trimmer or similar which necessitates an unprimed case. Me? I'd take a sharp, flat file & trim the cases to just below 2.222" then chamfer & load. Unless you're looking for ultimate accuracy I doubt you will notice which are the "hand trimmed" ones. Just remember...

Marine Amputee Acquitted On Gun Possession Charges

It also states that the Right to keep & bear arms shall not be infringed, which is exactly what the federal law on the transportation of firearms does & is thus unconstitutional. Why SHOULD someone travelling be denied the means to defend themselves?

    A question about magnets

I wouldn't want a paperclip or even a pin ending up stuck somewhere that might cause a malfunction - like inside the barrel or jamming the trigger - just when the gun is really needed.

    Ammo question

The Bills that are being introduced are the work of the company that MIGHT at some point make the technology viable to microstamp ammunition. Needless to say, the representatives who are anti self defence are happy to run with this Roneo'd rubbish. These whacko Bills also stipulate that...

    Gun laws in the US

ANY restrictions on the private sale of firearms is wrong - along with many other laws that impact the law abiding but are ignored by criminals. Here's how it works: Regulation Registration Restriction Confiscation That's what happened in the UK, where less than a century ago we had...

    Fs2000 ?

I've shot a couple of FS2000's, both equipped with the Eotech HWS. On initially handling it, the rifle seems a little unwieldy but this is an illusion brought on by the apparent bulk. With familiarity & having put more than a few magazines through them, I can say for certain that they're...

Shouldn't a gun store clerk have some gun knowledge?

The shop I visit when I'm over employs people who are knowledgeable aboyt firearms. . That doesn't however mean they all know everything but if you ask something & they DON'T know the answer, then they don't try to bull**** their way through. What they do is try & find the answer. To me...

    scopes for .243

I've never understood buying really cheap scopes, as they're not even worth their price. You can pick up a US made Leupold 4-12x40 Rifleman Riflescope for just over $200 & have something that is going to last a lifetime & have turrets that actually return to zero & track accurately. You get...

UK vs US Gun Control & Crime Statistics?

For anyone who has an interest in how disarmament happened in the UK, I suggest you read this detailed account: http://www.guncite.com/journals/okslip.html Whilst we do have far less crime committed with firearms, our violent crime & theft/robbery rates are indeed significantly higher than the...
