Highest Quality Revolver for under $500

Really, a Smith 686 as a collector's item? seriously Oktagon. My Taurus M85 could be a collector also. I took apart my GP100 and I couldn't find those rough cast surfaces you speak of. Maybe i got a defect. What concealed parts of the frame do you speak of? Please tell me how S&W 686s are...

Highest Quality Revolver for under $500

Well, from my point of view Smith is a better choise then Ruger if you collect firearms and enjoy the fine worksmanship, and the Ruger is a better choice if you are buying a gun as a tool and workhorse. Smith revolvers are much better made then Rugers. they are more pleasing to the eye...

    Ruger GP-100 or S&W 686

Get a pre-lock Smith. Generally S&W are better made then Rugers and sell at a different price point when new. I looked at many Ruger revolvers, and it always irritates me how rough the internal surfaces are. Ruger makes great rifles and some of the best S/S shotguns in the world (Gold Label)...

    S&W Performance Center 629 3" Carry comp

Here is nice little number I got at the recent gunshow. Pretty rare piece. According to S&W only 300 were manufactured in this configuration (PC629 carry comp I). It is actually not that much more dificult to conceal then my S&W PC13.

BAD News for MA. gun owners

It is a Black Tuesday for MA, and I hope the economy of this state goes to hell (even though I am unfortunate enough to reside here). I hope the unemployment rate reaches 25% and I hope the real estate values DEVALuate by 50% and crime increases by 75%. Damn this place! I hope the state breakes...

    A stupid trade question

Here is the deal: I have a mint condition unfired Coonan model B in .357Mag with box, papers and three magazines. I am thinking about trading it for a HK P7PSP in similar condition with three magazines. Does the trade make cence (I do have another Coonan, but I also have P7M8 and love it)...

Mission: Deer rifle gift. Budget: $150. Can it be done??

Well, how about a deer shotgun? You can find plenty of used Mossbergs in your price range. Also, how about some really fine Mauser actioned military rifle? Does not have to be sporterized right away, and Mauser action always leaves as much potential as you want. Mosin is another choice...

    Ruger #1 RSI - Uses?

I own #1 RSI in 7x57Mauser. It is one of the finest rifles in my rather substantial collection. It occupies a place in the same safe which houses my Blasers and Dacotas.

Boston Globe insults NH and Vermont

I am a resident of MA, on the way to NH. If I put down what I really think about Boston Blob, I will surely violate every rule of this forum. This is one of the lowest, scummiest piece of dirty filthy rag from deserted public toilet in Bagdad. Boston Blob is not even good for wiping one's...

    Sedgley Springfield sporter

While visiting my favorite shoe store I saw a pretty interesting 1903 Springfield sporter. It is a very noce Sedgley with Lyman sight and very pretty wood. I would say the gun is in 90-95% confition with mirror barrel. The asking price is $995. Has anyone encountered guns like this before?

Pirates firing machine guns tried to board a U.S. Cruise Ship

You can actually take any weapon you want aboard a cruise ship. I cruise regularly, and disregarding cruise company regulations have a pistol and an AR15 with me. All you need to do is to have your weapons in the luggade (which is unchecked). You go through the metal detectors, but your kuggade...

    Bushmaster M17 - $450, good deal?

I used to have one. The gun is reliable, but it has TERRIBLE trigger. The delay between puuling a trigger and firing is about 0.3 secinds (you can actually feel it). The accuracy is good. You do need to have a decent sight on it though. I liked EOD. I traded the gun for NIB Colt M4, and...

Please help to identify the scope!

Thank you Daniel! This is it. Exactly what you said! I wonder why there is so little information available about these scopes? I did bunch of searches, and found nothing! I found the exact year of manufacture of BAR, and it is 1971. I am still having some issues identifying it as Grade...

Please help to identify the scope!

I misspoke, when I called it parallax. I know what parallax is. It is not actually caused by anything inside the scope. It has to do with distance between the optical axis of the scope and bore axis. That's why higher rings have mre potential for parallax at londer distances and higher...

Please help to identify the scope!

Has enyone heard of Realist Computer scopes? I just bought unfired Belgian Browning BAR grade III rifle, and it came with a very strwnge scope, installed by its original owner very long time ago. It is 3-9x40 scope with 1" tuve and a very unusual mount, which rases the scope as you rotate...
