    Lee Pro 1000 Progressive Update

So I've completed the first 1000 rounds through my Lee Pro 1000 Progressive press (one box of Berry's plated in .40 caliber). The last 400 were done over the weekend in about 1-1/2 hours. My process is to deprime and size on a Herter's C press and then clean cases. Then prime with RCBS hand...

If Lee presses are junk, why are used ones so hard to find?

Gosh, ordered another Pro Powder Disk today and a couple extra parts for my Pro1000. All this negative talk is causing folks like Midway to put some of this out there on Clearance. Yowza! :D Seriously to get back to OP's original post, I visited Ebay today and typed in Lee Reloading Press...

If Lee presses are junk, why are used ones so hard to find?

With my new Lee Pro1000 I loaded 566 rounds of .40S&W in roughly two hours on Saturday (all the primed cases I had). No issues. Had to watch first and last shell in each tube and spent a lot of that time weighing rounds after and powder dropped every fifty rounds or so. Tried to hard to get...

If Lee presses are junk, why are used ones so hard to find?

Most of the junk comments lack objectivity and some measure of value for dollar expended IMHO. They express frustration. Lee makes a value press and progressive. I have one of each and I think there is great value here. I did lots of research and read lots of posts and I am very pleased with...

    Special loads in Magnum cases..?

I haven't seen any issues and don't expect to. Anyone that spends a couple hundred or more on a press and won't spend $100 on a chronograph is reloading blind. I chrono every recipe I load and compare with previous. I know how fast a 250gr lead bullet comes out of my Raging Bull when shooting...

    Need help on progressive press

I bought in short order a Lee Pro 1000 and then the Deluxe Turret. I load only .40 S&W on the progressive and .45LC and .454 Casull on the Turret. I size and deprime on a Herter's No. 3 single stage for both and then clean brass. I am faster with the Deluxe Turret at the moment, but still...

    Special loads in Magnum cases..?

Thanks for that. I had two boxes of FA 240gr JHP that were simply amazing to shoot. I compared with Hornady 240gr JHP and they were darn close. As well the 300gr Hornady JHP is wonderfully stout, and while I think I could do things cheaper, my chrono shows very consistent numbers. I have...

    Special loads in Magnum cases..?

I'm currently working up lead loads with a range ME limitation of 500 ftlbs for a Casull .454. I will also load same 250gr HC lead in the 45LC I shoot as well. I'm using 2400 and have come from 19 gr down to 14.5 to get to the appropriate velocity of 940fps. The 19.0 grains were wonderfully...

    Primer Flattening

This last picture isn't primer flattening. I call it ballooning. The primer has experienced higher pressures to cause the material to deform into the rectangular accomodation space. Edges though are still rounded. A flattened primer shows extrusion of the primer from the pocket and flat from...

Lee Pro 1000 Progressive Press Review

I ordered the charge bar today for the press. When I did a trade off with the double disk kit it was a no brainer. Lee doesn't make a .380 designated Pro 1000 (that I've found). Do I order another .40 and dies and plate for the .380 or.......? Thanks!

    progressive reloading

I'm not going to champion the product because I see shortcomings. At the same time it fits my program of reloading. There is good value here. I don't think it's a press that will match the Dillon or the LNL for full progressive effort. Yet they have their problems too and most of them relate...

Lee Pro 1000 Progressive Press Review

Well with powder (Power Pistol) and bullets (Berry's Plated 155gr.) and a bunch of sized, cleaned and primed .40 shells I began to make use of this press. For the way I load I make use of the three hole plate by using the bell/charge die followed by the seater and then a factory taper crimp...

    XDM 9 Trigger Job

There are legal ramifications for modifying a trigger from factory specs. Especially when you lighten the trigger pull. If you ever use your weapon in self defense it will likely be a question asked (have you modified it in anyway?). I did so to make it safer, in my opinion. Something to...

    XDM 9 Trigger Job

I looked very closely at both Springer and PRP for my XDm .40. I thought the safety timing was better handled with PRP and installed that. The striker linkage is complicated compared to simple sear with both the grip and trigger safeties. That is only my opinion based on all the available...

    Powder for Berry's 155gr .40

This is pretty impressive stuff. I could load my lightest caliber (.380) all the way up to my Casull .454 with this (that's 2.1 grains up to 32.0 grains). Very versatile.
