I had a .44 Alaskan that was a great gun, I traded it for the .454 Alaskan to compliment my 45 colt lever actions. I shoot the Buffalo Bore and Corbon heavy 45's and it is a fun gun to shoot and I find the recoil very manageable in 45. The only 454 I've shot thru it so far is the Corbon 285...
When I had my SP101 I carried the Gold Dot short barrel .357 and found it to be very controllable. In my friends S&W 340 or 342 don't remember the exact model but was a lightweight and .357 was too snappy and after about 40 rounds downright painful for me to shoot accurately, I shudder to think...
SMLE MK III* still my favorite rifle that I own, sadly as the quality suplus ammo is getting harder to find its range time has dropped, but would still be me go to rifle for any situation that could arise.
I voted SP101, I had a stainless OM in the early 90's and it was a great shooter but I just never took a liking to it I guess I'm just a firm believer that a 1911 .45 sports a 5" bbl.
Today was a day when it paid to get out of bed. Today at work I was debating whether to go by the gun shop to do the weekly ammo status check and decided I'd skip it this week, didn't feel like going out of my way and wasting the gas for nothing.
On the way home I decided what the hell I'd...
I know when I was in Italy in the early 80's you could get a Porto d'armi concealed carry permit. They were very hard to get. I believe they are still available but I'm sure in the current state of affairs in Europe they are probably even harder to get now.
I have a .357 Rossi 92 clone on order for my sons xmas gift. I have one of the Rossi's in .45 colt and I love it.
A buddy has a Marlin 1894c in .357 and it's an awesome shooter as well.
I think the Marlins run about $75-100 more than the Rossi's but either should be a great rifle.
Started carrying in 86 and my progression went from:
86 to early 90's - Colt Detective Special .38 or Colt Combat Commander .45
around 92 to 97 - Sig P220 .45
97 to Present - Sig P226 9mm primary when dress will allow
early 2000's to present - Sig P239 9mm everyday either primary or BUG to P226...
I carry gold dots in all my carry guns except the 45 colt which is loaded with the corbon dpx for c/c and corbon hunter for field carry.
I think the last time I ordered it was from CTD or Midway but it's been awhile since I had to look for any.
I'm definitely in the minority but the one rifle that I will never part with is my #1 MK III Enfield. I've had Enfield #4's and Garands over the years and while there is certainly nothing wrong with them, but for any rifle situation my go to gun is that 93 yr old #1 MK III.
I do admit that...
Ruger Alaskan, you can get it in either .44 or .454. Barrel is 2.5" and you can shoot anything from light 44 spl. or 45 colt to the hottest loads from Cor-Bon, Buffalo Bore or Garrett or equivalent handloads.
Ruger P345, I was considering between a HK USP compact 45 and a Glock 30 when a co-worker let me try his Ruger and I forgot about the other 2 higher priced models quickly and couldn't be happier.
