    The Marlin 39 Club

Mo - Got a little hunting in last fall, but didn't get anything except chantrell mushrooms. I was hoping to shoot some targets today, but we got 2" of rain since yesterday afternoon so I didn't get a chance. Maybe there will be a break in the storm tomorrow. In any case, I am planning to get...

    The Marlin 39 Club

Good evening. Unlike lots of the country, today was the warmest it has been in weeks. High 40's earlier today, unlike the sub-30s last weekend. No ice for over 24 hours now! Temp rise is due to rain, but its been pretty dry around here so I won't complain. Hope to get some dots later...

I can sympathize about the 22 ammo shortage, haven't seen any around here at a price I was willing to pay for more than a year. That said, I decided that I'd rather run out of ammo than not shoot my 39, so I have taken it out some lately. Still one of the best rifles I ever purchased...

    The 336 Club

For loading/reloading the 30-30 it is hard to beat the Papa John load. (30.2 grain IMR-4895, 150 grain Rem CoreLokt) Use a Lee 2.2cc scoop for the power. Of course that assumes you can fine the bullets, brass, primers and power. At least around here components are getting more...

    Browning .22lr semi-auto Japan value

Not a bad price with the scope mount and scope. Very nice guns, tend to be quite accurate. I love the clean and easy takedown.

Been missing from here for a while, but deer season starts in a few days and it's time to take one of my 336's back out to the woods where they belong! Just need to decide between my old blue or newer XLR stainless. Given the current weather forecast for rain, I'm leaning towards the XLR...

Congrats on your soon-to-be reunion with your 336. It's about time you got back together with your family. Will your 39 be coming too?

DA/SA firearms similar in size to XD Sub-compact

You might also look at the Beretta PX4 Storm Sub-compact or Compact. I like the way it fits my hand. It's DA/SA with a hammer and a decocker.

Have you ever had a Nikon Prostaff fail?

No failures with my Nikon Prostaffs, but I did have a problem with a Nikon Monarch. Somehow I managed to unscrew the whole adjustment turret while trying to get off the dust cover. Nikon replaced the scope with a new one quickly and with no hassle. That's the kind of service I like, so I'm...

What is dangerous range of a 22LR?

When I was in my teens, a Boy Scout buddy of mine was killed by a 22LR by another friend of his who thought it was safe to shoot. Can't remember the exact distance, and by now I don't care. You shoot a gun. It really can kill people dead. It killed a friend of mine. If it was me, I...

    Floating .22s, are any good?

I kayak and own a Marlin SS Papoose, bought in part to take in my kayak. My father has an AR7, made by AR that he bought back in the 1960's. It was taken on pretty much all of the longer sailing trips he ever made, as well as a lot of camping trips. The first AR barrel was warped and he got a...

    The 336 Club

Mo - I added a Williams FP aperture sight to your old SDT on Friday. Haven't got to the chance to shoot it yet, but the quick test shows it is a big improvement over the old rear sight. If nothing else, it moved the rear sight back a few inches, resulting in a much longer sight radius. With...

Sorry to hear that you're closing your business, but here's hoping that you get to shoot more in your next venture. So what state are you moving to?
