question how many calibers do you load for?

Currently: .38 Special .357 Magnum .45 ACP .223 Remington 7x57mm Mauser .30-'06 Springfield 20 gauge Wife recently started shooting 9x19mm and .380ACP, so I guess I'll be adding those as well. I've been loading .38/.357 since I started in 1990. All of the others have been added within the last...

You do what to your 9mm brass? no way

In the 25 years I've been loading, I've never trimmed handgun brass.

    Easy on/off holster?

I use the DeSantis SOF-TUCK. The single clip allows easy on/off when necessary. I drive a lot (120 miles a day round trip commute), so mine usually comes off when I get in the car and goes into the center console. I also have a vault for those times when I need to leave it behind.

    S&w 638-3

This is why I chose to carry speed strips for my 637. I've always liked the HKS speedloaders, but there's just not enough room to use them with confidence on these little revolvers. Nice pickup, gbran.

Sometimes I get bored shooting circles

Been there, done that. Honestly, anytime we get a package, the box becomes fair game. Sometimes we'll use whatever markings are on it, and sometimes we draw critter faces with a Sharpie. Throw it out by the lake, and start pushing it around. Definitely a nice change of pace from punching holes...

How do you find approval to plink-private land?

Well, I did it by marrying a woman with a small farm, who also enjoys shooting. Short of that, though ... Get to know people at a local shooting club. Even if they don't have land of their own, they likely know someone who does, and may make a recommendation or even an introduction. The stop...

Remington Outdoor Company disclosed declining sales of firearms and ammunition

It's being made at reloading benches by guys like us, 1ol. :D

throwing a stick in the seating depth chicken yard

I think it's a valid question, especially since he now has first-hand experience that counters the conventional wisdom. One factor that definitely plays into his experience is the (obviously) incredibly weak neck tension of those loads. However, I fail to see how that affects the burn pressure...

    Reloading 44 and 357 mag

Remember that the most expensive component in your load will be the brass. If you're looking at, say, wadcutter loads with the same bullet weight, and one is considerably "cheaper" than another, can you guess where the cost savings is? Everyone here so far is giving you solid advice regarding...

Do you have a surprise gun?

My "surprise" gun is my RIA 1911 Tactical .45. I bought it from a now-former coworker because he had it in his safe, hadn't shot it since he bought it, and wanted to "upgrade" to a Range Officer. I had been talking about kind of wanting a 1911, so he sold it to me for $400, with Pachmayr Legend...

Visit to a military museum in Spain (PICS!)

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. Went to my oldest stepson's graduation at Ft. Benning just shortly after they finished the new Infantry museum down there. That was a fun museum. Also, did the outside walking tour of the tanks, artillery, and helos while he was stationed at Ft. Hood. Also a...

most accurate military bolt action rifle

It's fine. It has the "Hatcher Hole", and I only shoot my own handloads in it, which are about as mousefart as you can get from a .30-'06. You are not the first person to "guess" it's not safe, nor will you be the last. I've been enjoying that rifle for several years now, and have no plans to...

    Open Carry in MO

I never see anyone open carry in the St. Louis or St. Charles areas. That doesn't mean there aren't people doing it somewhere, though. There was an open carry march in Ferguson the other day, I believe sponsored by the Oath Keepers. I don't think they got the local turnout they were hoping for...

most accurate military bolt action rifle

I only own two milsurps (so far); a '95 Chilean Mauser, and an '03 Springfield (from 1911). In my hands, both are minute-of-8-ring. I'm sure they would shoot better than that in the hands of a more talented shooter. I have shot some nice 1-1/2" groups with my handloads from the '03, but not...
