Not much difference between the 2, for longer range I would pick the .270 and for larger game like bears I would go with the 06.

I would go with the .243 Winchester or 7mm-08 Remington in the Ruger American. Try the fit of the compact and the full size for her.

Had an early Steyr M40 with the added safety I loved it only problem was the hot brass hitting me in the forehead got old quick so I sold it. The fit was perfect on the grip and the sights were ok.

It's a good kit to start with I still use mine I bought way back when. Only problem I had was with the toggle link on the handle breaking but they updated that part and it works fine now.

I have the xd9sc love it, only complaint was the mag release button is too tight to the grip I had a hard time getting it to release the mag.

I try to practice with my carry gun once a week with magazine change so 32 rounds a week.

I still take my dads old Winchester model 94 in .30 WCF out deer hunting, I learned to shoot with this rifle and enjoy reminiscing about hunting with my dad through the years.
