No, .38 S&W and .38 S&W Special are two different rounds and are not interchangeable.

I would say at least $500 for the blued one. A less than perfect nickel finish is another story. Ten percent wear on a blued gun is nothing. Ten percent on a nickel plated gun can be a big deal.

I'm also a few miles north of the U. in Wedgewood. Butch's Gun's on Aurora charges $35.00. Not really cheap but, it is closer to home.

I bought one in excellent condition a year ago this month. I paid $275.00 to a shop that seems to like to keep things moving. When I asked about the Model 51 on this forum, it was suggested that the gun could be worth as much as $500.00
