Well I found out a little bit more about this gun - it was purchased from a Washington DC police officer in early 70's. So I still don't know about the possible refinish? But it's now cleaned and back in the hands of the owner...👍👍
Yeah this is strange. IDK the history of this one - many of the ones I'm working with were purchased in early 70's. This was either purchased used at that time or was passed on from family. Doesn't look like it has a lot of use... 🤷
Ok cool. I will try my N frame grips just to see. I wouldn't think this would have been re-blued - unless there was a factory issue. Has very little wear, and most of the guns I'm working with have done nothing but sit for 4-5 decades until I started digging them out...😳
Thank you! I think they're plastic - there was some rust on the frame under the grips and on the inside of the grips. I sanded the insides flat to better align with frame and remove the rust from them. Seemed like plastic. There is only one grip screw on these.
When searching for correct grips...
I'm in process of cleaning and cataloging a family members guns. I've researched this one to the point that I know what the manufacture date is (late '53- early '54). There is no model number, as it was made before they did that. What I want to know is what is the actual name of it, and is it an...
Yeah I looked thru that and there's nothing about the 2 numbers behind the M. Guessing this might be a 67 as the numeric sequence fits. May have to contact Browning as you suggested...
Browning BAR Type 1 in 30.06. The 5 rd hunting rifle, not the military one. Looked on Brownings website trying to date/value this rifle. According to it there should be a serial # followed by an M with a number after it designating the year of mfr. This one has M77 after a 54### serial. Anyone...
3 o'clock IWB 95% of the time. I've found the key is to spend money on a good holster. EDC is P365 in a Wright Leather Works Cruiser holster. So comfy I forget it's there. Sometimes in summer I will pocket carry a Sig938 in a Sticky Holster...
Not in my state. As long as you're a state resident and of age, it's considered a private sale. You pay the trust/estate directly for the firearm and the auction house takes their cut from the estate.
Some are large enough with several estates and some new guns put in the mix - at those they...
Well that said - I went to a couple of these gun auctions 3-4 years ago and scored big time. Wife and I bought several at 40-50% discount from retail. I've also scored quite a bit of stuff from regular household auctions at far below worth. Kept the stuff I wanted and ebayed/FB Marketplaced the...
Oh I saw an even better one a few auctions ago. Ruger MarkIV .22 stainless. New in box. Two guys went at it. Ended at $2100. I saw the FFL guy who does paperwork/admins the guns for the auction house (he owns a well known range/gunstore/training facility here) and asked him what I missed on that...
Why WOULD you open carry? Advertise to the world you have a gun on you? Become the first target if something bad were to happen? Create more fear and animosity among those who don't like guns, which leads to more gun laws? We have OC in my state and in my opinion it's only to protect you in case...
