You can help out the accuracy of your Mosin with a few things and maintain the classic look at the same time. They are easy to do a bedding job on. Timney makes a trigger that makes them a lot better to shoot. Yes it does cost about the same as the rifle but it is easy to install and makes a...
I absolutely love CZ's rifles and pistols. Their shotguns are not made in house, but by a Turkish company (unless things have changed recently). I would pass on the CZ and look for a used SKB or even an auto. I learned to shoot trap with a first year of production Remington 1100 with a 30"...
I did a shoot one-clean one procedure for ten rounds to "break in" my 527 Varmint 223. In retrospect, I don't think it was at all necessary. I later did the Tubb's kit with the 80 grain coated bullets that you shot in a certain order that was supposed to make it shooter better and reduce...
I own the 85TSS sporting clays 12ga and their 28ga field model. I have only put 8000 round through the 12ga so I have no idea how it will hold up over time. I can say that it has been an excellent shotgun and I am very impressed with it. New out of the box it closed and ejected smoothly...
Ahh, if only! The lame safety is still there, the bolt hides it in the picture. I really wish they would have an option for their trigger without a safety, keep me from mangling the stock so much.
LoonWulf,
I just used up my supply of Hornady's .312" 150s, so I'll be looking to experiment...
This is my 1942 91/30
I glass and pillar bedded the action, refinished the stock, added a Timney trigger, got the bent bolt and mount from Rock Solid and found a good reload recipe.
1.38" C-to-C 3 shot group at 100 after sighting in (the first two shots are from initial sight in at 25...
Do you have a website? You may be the first person I've heard of to manufacture their own 1917 actions, it's an interesting idea. Will these rifles have the Timney 1917 trigger or are you coming up with something else?
Sounds like a neat idea. I love the 1917 action, but manufacturing it sounds a little odd. My gunsmith has ten Remington 1917 actions hanging on his wall, says they used to be popular for custom rifles but it's now cheaper to buy a factory built rifle that will shoot better than spend the time...
