I don't know why a .44 mag wouldn't work. On deer a .357 will penetrate from front to back and exit. A .44 should be able to penetrate at least to the vitals of a bear.

I had the extractor break on mine after maybe 30,000 rounds. I have only had it about 25years.It has a few minor stock dings from my kids learning to shoot with it.It shoots as good now as it did then.
While reloading some assorted brass .223 loads I noticed the shoulder to case body junction mushrooming out while seating the bullet.I have never seen this before.I checked the bullets diameters and they were right.Any ideas?
If I remember right the FLGR was mostly used for weight out front when they became popular,not for any reliability reasons,and were made from tungsten I believe.
I saw 4 and 6" in excellent condition for $800 to $1200 at the Tulsa show,the 2.5" is the high dollar length.I couldn't believe they were higher than Python's.
