Being a Hoosier who can carry open or not. I prefer to not walk around brandishing a sidearm. I'll keep mine concealed until needed. Just my 2 cents worth but showing what you are carrying, while your right, doesn't make it tactically a good choice.
Lots of choices, a good .38/.357 revolver with a 3-4 inch barrel. A simple to use 9mm like the glock, or S&W M&P as well as the XD/XDM , or Kahr in 9mm.
I had a similar problem a few years back and one thing I did was put more 'obstacles' in the way to increase time to wake/move/etc. while i was recovering. Great plan you shared. Thank you!
Head or one thru the lungs would do the job. If those southern hunters can kill a hog with a .22 mag, coyote is lot thinner skinned that that. I would use a heavy grain JHP or solid and put one thru the lungs myself.
The only interest I had would be on a hiking trip, carrying my 1911 in .45 and then the .22 conversion would make it easier to carry more ammo and to hunt for small game. Of course with the weight a bearcat might weigh as much? I don't have the conversions on any of my guns for what its worth.
I have both and you will be served well with either. I only have one of the new redfield but have 3 Mueller. Another brand to look at is Pentax which sportmens guide was carrying.
