Another vote for the XD .45 compact. Have over 7000 rounds through it with no problems. Won't feed SWC, but feeds JHP, and hardball of course, beautifully. Am thinking of getting an XD 9mm subcompact, especially with the current special of 3 more free mags... Update - the XD feeds lead, even...

Another thumbs up for the GSG 1911. Just got one, (also wanted to save $$ on my .45 1911). The GSG is a very close clone of the 1911 and shoots the cheap Federal bulk .22 with no problems.

Reclaimed shot My gun club sells reclaimed shot for a good price. Have tried making round balls, but it's too hard to load in revolvers - you need pure lead as others have stated..... makes great bullets for modern guns though!

sounds like Diamondback is worth a try, especially since I just enjoy the fire and smoke, not trying to win any bullseye contests - besides, gettin' dirty is half the fun :)

Has anyone used the new Diamondback powder? The price on powderinc appeals to my cheap nature, but you have to buy it in 25lb lots. Would hate to have 25lbs of powder I don't like. My use would be for BP revolvers. An internet search showed some people thinking its made in the old Elephant...

got a new Pietta 1860 Army. Looks good except for what look like grinding scratches on one side, and the top, of the barrel. tops of the lettering on the barrel have been ground off to some extent. can see that the scratches were there before blueing. just wondering if this is normal for...

changing it up a bit, but have you looked into the XD line of semi-auto's? read some forums where people think the XD points more naturally than the glock (can't say since i've never tried the glock)... picked up an XD .45 last month, and love it! also have an SP101 and love that too! both guns...

Also use Remington 10's and 11's since they're slightly less expensive, and work fine (at first I thought they had problems, but realized my BP revolver had issues and needed some smithin' - works great now).
