I prefer .308 for the short action, I can throw a bolt without moving my eye from behind the scope. The bolt hits me in the face if I try that with a long action. Ballistically they're very similar if you shoot factory ammo, you can get hunting rounds for both but precision ammo is much more...
Just turned this thread up accidentally. Al, that range is mostly closed. A stray round was found near a nearby house, and the range is now closed to normal shooting. The only way you can shoot there currently is if you have a member of the Board of Directors with you, or at one of the pistol...
Hey Rex B, I was just on CMMG's site, and didn't see any AR's in the Bargin Bin. Hope they're not a thing of the past, I was going to suggest one to someone.
OT, but how pleased are you with the magazine conversion, and are you talking about the AK mag conversion? I have the instructions, but haven't taken the time to try it yet.
That's a quick-attach mount for an AAC suppressor. Pro's are, obviously, you can attach a suppressor quickly, and it's supposed to have pretty good flash suppression.

Experimentation!
Work up a load increasing the powder slightly with each group, and watch your group size. Try a different bullet and do it all over again. Different primers, powders, seating depth, until you get an idea what the rifle will do and what it likes. Normally you will find a...
Both .243 and .308 are available nearly everywhere, although it will be harder to find it with Barnes bullets. I've never shot Barnes, so I wouldn't know for sure. I'm less than two hours from Summerville, you'd be welcome to come up and shoot anytime. I don't have the collection that some of...
Welcome to South Carolina!
As far as gun selection, pretty much just pick one that you like and buy it. I used to hunt with a .270, and it works great for anything in SC. Now I usually hunt with an obscenely heavy .308 bolt rifle that is completely unnecessary for the hunting I do- but I...
I wouldn't doubt that some 22 MO's could pull the trigger in a smooth .38. My 9 month old has grabbed the handle of a filing cabinet on a couple of occasions and pulled himself completely off the ground- if he can lift ~24 lbs, he is close to pulling a trigger, and he's not even 1 yet. Thanks...
I'm using a Surefire 9P with a shock insulated bezel and a tapeswitch, and have been very pleased with it. It's mounted using a Viking mount. I don't remember the exact price, but it was somewhere around $100 from Brightflashlights on AR15.com. A dedicated Surefire weaponlight would be a...
