I push a 164gr bullet right at 2000fps out of both my 16" 357 levergun as well as my 10" 300blk. Using the clip on ww alloy I have, both the lee 160gr 30 cal bullet and lee 158gr .358" swc drop right at 164gr. Powder coat them via airsoft tumble method with one coat of HF red. They don't leave...
Try out some lilgun along with coated hard cast lead bullets. the coated lead goes faster than a JHP and I bet a cast bullet is better for your purposes on hogs. Im getting 1575 fps with lilgun and a 158gr cast and coated bullet. Thats roughly 33% more muzzle energy than your mouse fart load...
not him,but I have some chrono data from loading 158xtp with 16.2gr H110 and either a srp or spm. 1315fps average velocity from a 6" revolver and 1725fps from a 16" levergun. from a 6" gun this is a very comfortable to shoot load.
Bullseye is known to soften the powder coat on the base of the bullet. Within a week of loading i can scrape the powder coat off with my fingernail. No problems immediately noticed from shooting these but it is something to consider before loading up a years wirth of ammo. Unique and titegroup...
I coat the same method as bullseye with HF red paint. It works well. Ive never had good luck coating bullets that were once tumble lubed. Even cleaned very well, the coating didnt pass the "hammer test". I would just recast them. It doesn't take but an hour or so to cast 500 fresh bullets.
The FCD removes dimension from somewhere. That somewhere is the bullet. Running a round through a fcd will swage the bullet down and result in reduced neck tension. You are having your problem because you are either using mixed brass with varying case wall thickness or bullets that vary in...
Agreed ATLDave. Im able to apply a moderate roll crimp in the 125 xtreme without any affect on the plating. Unless you are shooting +P loads in an airweight or poly revolver there is no need to crimp a 38spl round.
I'll third the new starline 357 suggestion. Most once fired brass sellers ask more for used mixed brass than new starline. It cant hurt using only 357 brass but I have never seen this carbon ring that poeple speak of when using 38 brass in a 357 revolver. My typical range session is 200-300 38's...
I'm patiently waiting to be able to legally protect my hearing and allow a piece of rubber to touch my shoulder. I'm in no rush as i'm sure that our President will eventually get to most of these issues in the coming months. Donald Trump Jr is a seasoned firearms enthusiast and has spoken...
Good picture Walkalong! Once you know what you are looking for they are pretty easy to spot but not nearly as obvious as the IMT or ammoload 9mm brass with the sharp 90 degree corner on it's ledge.
The rim on that agulia brass looks a little chewed up. It could be a burr keeping it from plunking in the gauge. Agulia brass is also a little thicker than most other domestic headstamps.
Not to sound rude, but I have never understood why people pay for pistol gauges. I could see where a rifle...
