My guess is I would opt for a Dan Wesson (DW) 1911. Why? The fit and finish are equal to the best is and therefore you are getting a very good pistol at a bargain price. I have two Commander sized DW pistols a 10mm and a 45acp Bobtail. I love 1911s and these are great ones.
I have a Bersa Thunder 380 and 45acp, both are great carry weapons. A carry weapon takes a lot of abuse and therefore I do no use my expensive handguns for that purpose. Regards, Richard:)
"Another one to grab if you can find it is the 1927 Argentinian Sistema. This is essentially a Colt clone made in Argentina."
Wrong! A Sistema Colt 1927 is a licensed copy of the 1911A1; the Sistema Colt 1927 is equal in quality to an old time Colt and that is superb. Regards, Richard:)

I am all thumbs and what I would do is find a good 1911 mechanic in your area. A 1911 mechanic is a gunsmith that knows how to get/keep your 1911 running. It isn't unusual to have teething problems with a 1911 but they should be easy for a mechanic to fix. Regards, Richard:)
I traded my Nickle S&W Model 29-2 even for a Kimber Classic Stainless Target. My new Kimber looks very similar to the one in this photo. Why did I trade my M29-2? The answer is simple; if I shoot a lot of 44 Mag full loads I want it to be in my Ruger Super BlackHawk as it soaks up the recoil...
Josh, I bet that rubber is ideal for CCW, you hardly notice it catching on your clothing. I have never heard of needing extra support for an ambi safety nor have I ever seen a 1911 with a stubby safety on one side and an extended safety on the port side. What gives? 1911s have been around for 96...
KelVarnson, don't need no stinking accessories! I have owned a box stock Sig P226 9mm for years and it hasn't needed any do-dads. It just keeps chugging a long. Regards, Richard:)
Bulgies are $250 US and up; EGs are $300 US and up. The CZ82, that fires the same round. start at $200 US. Regards, Richard:)

I have a 9mm Colt that a friend commissioned and it never worked. I bought it for $1,000 and I admit I then put another $500 into it. This pistol now runs like a top but it isn't an experience I would want another to have. I would contact Bob Serva http://www.fusionfirearms.com/ and take his...
The Dark Side!
I own more than 9mms than most people and my vote goes to the Glock 17/19. I have never had a stoppage with a Glock and my G17 is among the more accurate 9mms I have shot. Regards, Richard:)
