    Savage 10FP, no accutrigger

I've looked over a Savage 10FP (.308) at at local pawn shop. Standard HEAVY barrell and standard stock. What should I look for in terms of wear, or common problems? All I could see was that the barrell had cobwebs in it. They want $285. Richardson

    Savage Rifles

I just put my hands on a Savage 10FP at a pawn shop. It's a .308 with a HEAVY barrell, but it does NOT have the accutrigger. Everything looks fine, except for wear on the bolt (where the rear receiver ring contacts the bolt it's worn off the black). The barrel is dirty (even has cobwebs in...

why isnt two holes better than one?

Thank you.... my blunder (trust me, I'm even better at blundering than at engineering).....:o

why isnt two holes better than one?

Yup, we're mostly water.... contained in a material matrix that is more like some types of foam rubber than the brittle and weak matrix of a watermelon. I'm not saying that shooting a watermelon won't tell you anything about the power of a round - it will do that dramatically. What it won't...

why isnt two holes better than one?

Just to be technically picky: Force = mass * acceleration. Kinetic Energy = mass * velocity^2 Trust me - it's my job.

why isnt two holes better than one?

I mostly agree with geekWithA.45 Hydrostatic shock is seldom the determining issue, even with rifles. To re-word (& add to) his ideas, bullets stop living beings by: (1) creating holes that lower blood pressure - and the critical holes are in the circulatory system, not the skin. (2)...

    270 vs 30-06

Very little difference, IMO, except that I think you can get heavier bullets in .30-06.

    I Still Have My Guns

Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans should be closesly associated to those who held those titles in the past. They have both let their platforms become market driven and given up on past principles. They both pose threats to our freedoms, including RKBA. The Democrats are more vocally...

    Remington 11-87 technical question

When i got my 11-87 (used) I detail stripped it for cleaning. When I took out the trigger group the feed latch fell out too. When I reassembled it I had to try twice to make it stay. Is it a problem for this to fit so loosely?

Have you ever been shot at or threatened with a gun?

I parked cars at a restaurant on the north side of Chicago (Lincoln Park). A drunk off duty cop pulled a pistol on me for "taking his parking space". He drew it from the holster but never pointed it at me.... I moved so he could park for free right in front of the restaurant.

    help on 22cal rifles

    Remington Speedmaster (I think model #552) takes .22lr, .22 Long, & .22 Short interchangeably.

Guns your father had when you were growing up

    - 2 Eddystone M1917's in .30-06, sporterized. I have one of them. - Remington 7400 in .30-06, which he was given by the widow of a friend shortly after his death. I think he gave that to one of my brothers. - An old pump 12 gauge with a muzzle break. He gave that to another brother. If...

More Daley BS for IL peons

Remember Republican Governor George Ryan. He started out saying that this was "immoral", "an outrage", a "no-go". Then Daley got to him, probably offering to keep Ryan's corruption a secret... ... All of a sudden Ryan says that it's a good idea.... In Illinois every politician should be...
