150 year old Ideal 38 Long inside Lubricated makes excellent 38 Long colt rounds. Pics included

Very interesting. And great results too. Clue me in, do you have to find .38 long colt brass or can you form it from 38 special? Or 38 Smith Wesson?

    Bessie plays in the snow.

Always thought I should have at least 2 shots, where I hunted, problem bar's were ' relocated '. Ok. I built a 1806 harpers ferry .54 flint pistol, wretched thing only weighed + - 9 lbs. If I could have found a double 50 or 54 flintgun, oh boy. But....nope, so there I was, my gear damn near out...

Uhhh.....me too actually. I must admit I feel pretty bad about talking about ' cap guns' in a serious application.

Hey Ugly Sauce, I've read quite a number of your posts relating to a bear, of whom you didn't wish to be associated, and a set of tests to come up with some ' bear be gone ' that would give some piece of mind. Not trying to be up in your business, but perhaps a coupla a .62 dia bbls would be...

    Night Sights

Won't have a carry pistol without them installed. XS big dot on my G 19, meoprolites on a G17, XS big dot on my social shotgun and when i carried it, a tritium dot vial from trigicon worked into the front of a Smith M19 21/2".

    Coning question

Thanx Lefty38-55, I thought Joe....somebody but didn't recall. I have done my two .50s and really like the outcome, so, my dedicated coyote flinter .40 is next in line. This time Im not letting it outa my sight.

    Coning question

The accuracy of the rifles I've done has not suffered, at all. Someone ' borrowed my .50 cal tool, can't remember who, and didn't remember where I got it. But I did keep a short starter laying around, just to remind me how suckee that is.

    Coning question

Hi folks, Im going to cone the muzzle of my .40 flint gun, I did this to several others and it is a great addition. And yea, I could google where to find the fixture, but this way it sparks a conversation and everyone can see , even if only marginally interesed in doing it where they might find...

what would be everyones, go to rifle.

In the spirit of the Op's question about a throw in the truck, wack a coyote or a crackhead, hunt a deer rifle, Im not going to get bogged down with shrieks of fudds, boomers, boybuns, or other such drivel. Tired of juvenile posts. My choice would minic that of my grandpa, he wacked coyotes...

That thing nobody ever really thought about

While knowing that percussion cap guns are mearly a passing fad it was easy to come up with a solution for this. Just say no......... Im really positive that I'm not running out rocks anytime soon.

Sadlak or Springfield Armory Scope Mount

No experience with a Sadlack, just an ARMS 18. However, Springfields pitifull excuses for mounts, yes. Both of the different itenerations that I foolish tried, now live elsewhere. As mentioned, ARMS 18 really works, if your dead set on Sadlack, sure why not? I hear good thing about them

How many Ruger 10/22s is too many? Also what is your favorite setup?

One is plenty, 2, not so much. Originally purchased one to build a target model that was too spendy for my taste, and got it done less expensively than a real one. That said, it wouldn't shoot with my customized Marlin 60s. So, it sits around.

Would you own a 300 Win Mag if you didn't hunt? Details inside, I need your opinion

I wouldn't have much use for the 300 if not hunting, and then little if I did. Starting out for long range, I had a similar dilemma, it's going to take some time and lots of rounds. Appreciating that, I looked at the most economical method to get 4- 5000 rounds towards proficiency. Already...

Please help with information on an old (civil-war era or earlier?) side-by-side.

It may be a possibility, that this, i presume, shotgun is loaded, as many older firearms are found to be. If, and I can't tell from the photos, there are little copper tubes on the nipples, that upward facing protrusion area underneath where the hammers swing down, make sure as to remove them.
