I recently aquired a Marlin model 1894 cowboy classic in 45 Colt. I would like to convert this rifle to 45 ACP if such a conversion is feasible. Can anyone provide any information on this conversion and possibly suggest a gunsmith who might do the work? Any help appreciated.

Thanks Russt. I had overlooked the 4759 data in the 13th Speer manual. The 3rd edition of the Lyman cast bullet handbook has quite a bit of data, but I'm not sure if it is usable with the current 4759 powder. I found nothing on the Hodgdon site.

I cleaned the bore from the muzzle and it shines like a new penny. The action works perfectly and is about the smoothest I've seen on a lever gun. The action is clean and does not really need any further attention. I did not try removing the trigger group but will keep that suggestion in mind...

There is no hammer extension on the hammer and bolt is fully to the rear. I can put a rod thru the bore and attempt to drive it out with a bigger hammmer, but I'm concerned that something may get damaged in the process. Since it ain't broke I think I won't try to fix it.
