    Good Milsurp with available ammo?

Reloading is the only way to go with the old milsurps. You can use lead bullets and low power loads that are perfect for old guns at 100 yds. And its really not that difficult. A 170g lead bullet and 14g of Red Dot make a very easy shooting and accurate load for all the old bolt actions.

    reloading 9mm largo

I reload 9mm largo using .38 super brass and 9mm bullets using a standard 9mm sizer/seater. I adjust the die so the entire brass fits, haven't had any problems.

best bolt action military rifle of the 20th century

Since I retired I'm shooting a lot more and make a point to take down an old rifle for range time. I shoot most all mentioned - GW98, 98K, MkIII, MKIV, 1903, 1903A3, M1917, Type 99s, MN 1891, MN1944, Carcanos, 1917 Lebel, MAS 36, but the two that are absolutely best in fit, finish, machining...

    Which WWII-era handgun?

    I love old WWII guns. Took the German handguns off the wall for a range trip a few days back. : 1930 Commercial C96/1944 High Power/Pre war FN 35 Highpower/1943 Walther P38/1944 Mauser P38/1944 Spreewerk P38/1918 Erfurt P08/1937 Mauser P08/ and GSG MP40 9mm. <img src="https://" /> <img...

    New M1 Carbines

We have three of the Kahr built "Inlands" at the gun store where I work. Decent looking, feel good, they stayed true to the design. But not $1K worth.

Ideas for a "pass or fail" terminal performance test for hunting loads

Here's an option- I don't recommend it though. Thompson-LeGarde Tests of 1904 The first somewhat systematic and recorded attempt to test handgun stopping power in the U.S. (at least that I know about) was the Thompson-LeGarde tests of 1904. These were conducted to evaluate a small number of...

    Savage 22/410

Over the years I've had a .222/20 ga, 30-30/12 ga, and a .22 mag/20 ga. Traded them all - its still just a basic break open single shot rifle/shotgun combo. Handy but nothing remarkable.

thinking of replacing 5.56mm as my go-to cartridge

Mine are either .223 or .308 with a lot of 30-06 as back up - when I have to move around or travel its .223. Can't beat it in an M4 for size, accuracy, weight, firepower, and can carry lots of ammo. For sit and defend its .308. Long range. 30-06 for Garand and hunting rifles.
