    Rifle or Reloading

Hi sethsdaddy25, It's up you. However, loading 45 (either 45ACP or 45 Long Colt) are great cartridges to learn to hand load with. They are large enough to handle easily while learning. As others have mentioned before, patience and reading and following the instructions are mandatory...

T/C Hawken Manual & muzzle velocities

Hi all, I'm getting ready to finally shoot the Hawken and have a question. While looking at the load data for 50 cal. PRB, there are 2 Muzzle velocities listed for each load. For example: 70 grs. FFG lists 1643 fps and 1050 fps. Is one for cap lock and the other flint? Seems like an awful lot...

    Accurate .45 APC under $20/50

Hi 12many, I've ordered from KY Imports before. http://www.kyimports.com/ammo.htm. They have PMC 45 ACP at a decent price (though you may want to call & check to see if it's still the same). I have shot PMC before and liked it. Bob

how to tell if brass is used up

agd1953, I suggest a bit better housekeeping; segregate the various lots of brass and go from there. Overpressure is not friendly. Like Idano said, it is "pennies". Also, keep detailed records of both loads & brass. I use ziplock bags marked with a Sharpie marker for segregation. Bob

160 gr. lead in 45 acp

bsam4me, The latest Lee manual lists loads for 154, 155, & 170 gr. bullets in 45 ACP. However, W231 is not listed for those bullet weights. Bob p.s. Is/was the supplier Rucker? Good stuff.

    Advice on new setup

Hi Atomd, Hand/reloading is great. I'd suggest a good single stage press, beam scale, powder measure, a set of check weights for said scale, and at least 2 manuals such as Lyman's 48th and one from a powder manufacturer for comparison purposes. I recommend that you read the manuals at least...

    Recommend Brass Tumbler

Hi Redhat, I've used a Thumler's Tumbler since '95. It's a rotary, heavy duty (originally for rock tumbling), and has held up well. Only problem so far is that the o-ring drive belt finally seperated at it's seam recently. I echo previous posts on clean brass - easier to see any...

    Kimber ??

Is he pulling the slide all the way back and releasing it to chamber a round? The reason for asking is that I've met quite a few auto owners who "Hollywood" the slide while chambering a round (grasping slide and holding on to it as it goes into battery); tends to jam that way. Also it's slide...

    Will I be dissapointed with a Hi-Power

Hi Ford, I'm a 1911 head. That said, I recently picked up a used HP in 40 S&W. I love it. The trigger is a bit heavy, but the pistol is plenty shootable. Bob

    "Tombstone" (Director's Cut DVD)

A Great (but fun) Book Hola Gents, Nab a copy of 'I Married Wyatt Earp' by Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp. All may not be the truth, but a great reading regarding Earp & "The Old West" Bob

    Limerick topic

...More Political than firearm related. Too bad Ted got away with it; not to mention the last line proved to be untrue. Bob p.s. I recall this from an OLD Hustler Grafilthy cartoon; it was written on the men's room wall. Edited out inappropriate content.

    I want a Lee-Enfield.

Hi Gents, Found a #4MkII from '54 at a show several years back. Not a lot of history but brand new. Hosed the cosmoline out and what a nice riffle! Not bad for ~180 wrapped, twined, greased :-) It took a while to clean up but a very nice shooter. Bob
