Legit or fake? Walker on GB

I saw a brass replica dragoon a navy vet friend of mine made long ago in a ship's machine shop. He had a real one at home.

What do you guys consider a good group at 500 yards

In basic with M14 we regularly hit torso targets at 500. Never saw the groups, but each shot knocked him down. Not everybody could hit it every time, but itwas not hard for most. This was from prone, sitting, or squatting. No steenkeeng benchrests.

    Try it out-see what happens.

Anyone taken a tactical or defensive class with an M14?

I did-it was called US army Basic Training.

Why have a firearm inspected by a qualified gunsmith?

While a lot of smiths might not have a broad knowledge of rare or unusual pieces, it won't hurt to get an examination of a piece that has been modified or you are unfamiliar with. Sorry to say I often ignore my own advice.

    Good result with cold bluing?

It smells bad and will wear off very quickly. Tried it in my misspent youth.

    Snapping turtle

I don't care for "turkle." There are a lot in my pond and I let my buds have them. Treble hook, bacon or something nasty, and a plastic jug usually does the trick. One thing to watch is that neck is three times as long and twice as fast as you can imagine. They are mean as can be.

saw a rare sight at a gunshow yesterday...

I have a HSc my father, 506 PIR brought home. It actually had the paperwork-one of the 5 out of a hundred I mentioned. The Officer detailed to sign the papers that day got lazy and wrote the magazine number instead of the pistol's actual number. It was lost when gram sold the farm. I...

Alarming new trend with some CCWs

Sounds like an introduction in to "Street smarts 101" Old and basic stuff.

Ballistics, ammo, Barrle lengths and Roy Rogers?

All those cowboys had hi cap sixguns. The good guys had special bullets that only knocked guns out of bad guys' hands. Also they never hit a horse.

I am finally Closing the "Gun Show Loophole"!

My opinion is that gunshows have really sucked for at least the last 25 years. I am pretty cranky, but dn't think I'm far off. They were fun, before jerky and beanie babies and the wannaee black ops stuff.

    Aim at head or chest?

Friend of mine was shot in the head by a jealous husband that saw him in a bar. Bullet bounced off his skull and killed an innoceny bystander. Shoot once center of mass and be ready to explain subsequent wounds from a jail cell or to an interested judge.

saw a rare sight at a gunshow yesterday...

"Capture papers" which are merely authorizations for souveniers to be mailed or carried home have little or nothing to do with how the piece was acquired. They were used quite hapahazardly or not at all in many circumstances. Recently, they have been "rediscovered" and are commonly faked...

Bullet went between me and neighbor!

You did the appropriate thing. Stopped it before somebody got hurt. I'd sure try and talk to them about a solution. Can't believe some of the lynch mob responses.

    Retiring the flintlock...

Intervention in order-replacing a flinter with an inline? Possible demonic possession at work-not good! Seek help immediately!
