Bad new gun or bad ammo? 642 issues.

Check the ammo for high primers. What you describe is common when the first strike seats the primer and the second strike ingites the now full seated primer. I am not discounting the short pin idea, but high primers even in factory ammo is more common. If pins are out of stock, e mail me...

    Moon Clips

Only place I know of for stainless clips are from hearthco in California. Dave's moon clips are the best you will find but are also the most expensive. Ranch will plate steel clips for you but it doubles the price.

    DA misfires

All good info here. As for the marks on the frame, I would guess someone was trying the action with the side plate off and pulled the trigger.

    Bullseye Pistol: Training tips thread

TIP 70% of a good bulls eye score is a good state of mind. If you can learn to relax and think only of yourself and the shot you are taking, you can master the rest with basic fundamentals. Do not get into the rhythm of the other shooters on the line. Set your own and forget about them...

    Smith & Wesson 610

3" 610. I use Rimz clips and I use factory clips. Great carry gun in either 40S&W or 10MM with the correct holster.

    Model 66 questions

On the topic of Mags in K frames, back in the day I carried a 19 as my duty revolver. I was also the department armorer and Instructor. We carried and qualified with Super Vel JSP Magnum loads. At last count I had over 20,000 rounds through my 19 and NEVER had a problem that normal...

    3" revolvers

Most gunsmiths will not cut a S&W revolver to 3". It gets into the area of the locking bolt and causes machining problems. You will have to find a factory 3:so how difficult or expensive is it to cut down the barrel to 3 inches" barrel for the S&W products.

    3" revolvers

I really like my 3" 610. The 3" 625 was a whim for me that did not last. The 610 is a keeper.

    45 ACP Revolver WHY?????

For serious competition in action pistol using revolvers, the 25-2 or the 625 are the way to go. I have shot them extensively for a lot of years and enjoy the versatility of the cartridge with moon clips. I can go to a 300 round match with all my ammo ready to go in moon clips while others are...

    Unknown S&W revolver...

Sounds like you have a PPC gun. To clean it up, get some Corosion X. Best thing for it. As for Value, there is little left for PPC revolvers any more. Last one I saw for sale made by a name gunsmith went for $450 with all the gear that you need including a holster, speed loaders etc. They...

    Miculek vs McGivern...

I don't know if it has taken place yet but I talked to Jerry and to Roy Jinks a couple years ago at S&W. Jerry was going to make the attempt with McGivern's gun but was waiting for PACT to make him a special timer. It will be the closest he can get to the actual conditions of the McGivern...
