Update:
Last comment.. I ordered bear spray today from amazon ( $ 28.00 ) .. Great advice..
Called local dealer .. They have the 2.25"SP.. I am going over to hold it and because of all the comments I will also look S&W but will order the 3" SP if it comes down to that. Thanks
I would like to thank everyone for their replies. Some great advice. :uhoh:
I went to sleep last night and kept thinking about the LCR. ( There is just something about it that I like ). Then I woke up read the post and realized that i need to go with the 3" SP... I guess I will put the LCR...
I need some help.. I do not or never have owned a revolver, but want something for home defense that I can pick up without worrying about slides and or safeties.. Something to pull trigger and it goes bang..
I would also need a firearm for a couple times a year where I walk in places...
I am considering the Glock 29 ( 10mm ) for a woods guns, but would also like to use the same gun for home defense, and is why the Ruger SP101 seems to be a better choice..
38 specials for the home and 357 magnum for black bear defense..
The 10mm seems to be ( I hate saying this ) too...
You say you own a Smith and Wesson 38 special. I would say you are good to go.. Just practice with it .. S&W 38's are great guns that pack way enough stopping power...
In an auto loader I like the Ruger LC9..
I have never owned a revolver, but each time I think of what I want in my next gun the Ruger SP101 chambered in 357 magnum always enters my mind... The Smith and Wesson 686 comes to mind also, but is about $250 more expensive..
