>>The mk4 is stupidly overpriced<<
Perhaps so, but the PITA factor of the earlier models may negate this, as is evidenced by the popularity of the MKlV. Just saying.....
I've had several MKll's and enjoyed them all. However, I finally got tired of the disassembly/assembly process and went the 22/45 Lite route. However, since the 22/45 is out for you I'd just go with the MKlV "Target" and be done with it. I will say this...if you want it to be truly a good...
>>As I said earlier, the little owl faces backwards on Iver Johnsons with the better steel for Smokeless powder<<
I think I'M the one who had things backward, as my IJ has the owl facing backwards and looks just like the one you pictured. My bad....
The way I understand it, if the owl's head is facing forward the gun is good for modern ammunition, whereas if it's facing towards the rear it's a black powder gun. (Google it)
>>I have tried it several times over the years and never got into it. I sort of felt like a cat with tape on its paw with a holster on my ankle, just was never right.<<
Same here... I hate 'em!
MaddMacs is a viable alternative to the Lobos, but not quite as streamlined or attractive. I had one on my MKlV for a while but replaced it with a Lobos when one FINALLY became available.
>>I cut my teeth shooting Smith & Wesson models 14 (K38)<<
Same here, got my first one back in 1963 followed by a Model 27-2. I've had a skad of revolvers since then but really have no use for them now. In fact, the only one I have is a Ruger LCRX. One would think I'd like them for nostalgia...
>>Can you expand on "useless". What issues did you have?<<
Huge dot, not particularly bright or clear, hard to pick up etc. Most of all, it was no way zeroed for the Max 9, at least in my case. I wanted to like it but it was just too weird. My advise is to actually see one prior to buying. Who...
Don't do it...it's a POS! Both myself and a friend bought one and quickly discovered it was all but useless. Fortunately, I bought mine direct from Ruger and was able to return it but my buddy got his on eBay and is stuck with it.
>>I contacted Heidi at customer service for Zanders<<
I heard that Zanders was no longer going to be distributing these, so I hope that was bum scoop! Heidi's the best.
