    Springfield XD9SC

Too thick for me. I'm not a thin guy, and I bought one for CCW. Even with a Crossbreed holster, it is just too uncomfortable. I always know it's there, and am constantly adjusting it.

    DNC security nuts...

I think this has less to do with Denver, and more to do with all the previous riots at the DNC's and RNC's. This restaurant is a national chain (Bubba Gump Shrimp), and was obviously planning on having trouble considering the amount of security. Management, in my opinion, is more to blame than...

    DNC security nuts...

"What kind of firearms were they carrying? Did you feel comfortable with your safety in their hands? Are the RNC conventions so enthralled with security theater? I've never been to either." I hear what you are saying, and no, the security guards were not packing, but security was not...

    DNC security nuts...

The reason I was not packing was because of all the police activity in the area, and the fact that I pretty much knew I was going to stop at a bar (not illegal in CO). Watching the news, there seems to be a great need for police to arrest as many people as they can, and I was not looking for...

    DNC security nuts...

Last night I went into downtown Denver to check out what was happening with the DNC. Mostly a BUNCH of police with riot gear. Not many protesters or people causing trouble. On our way back to the light rail station, the friend I was with and myself stopped at a restaurant for a beer. One of...

    CU students want to CCW.....

http://community.myfoxcolorado.com/boards/topic.aspx?topic_id=138399 The "question of the day" for a local morning TV show is whether or not CU students should be able to CCW on campus. Most seem to think they should. Scott

So...just when is it acceptable to pull your gun?

"Considering your level of concern for your female neighbor, I don't see why you didn't walk out with your weapon (only a stick) and meet the fellow. Assuming, of course, he wasn't visibly armed, say, with a gun. Was the dispatcher just giving you conventional, liability-avoiding advice on...

So...just when is it acceptable to pull your gun?

What if.... A couple years ago, my next door neighbor was at home, bed ridden due to high-blood pressure issue due to pregnancy. She was going to the hospital later that day to have her baby. A young, nervous kid walked up to her door and started trying to get into the house. I called 911...

Coyote warning for pet owners; are you carrying?

I live in Denver (Evans/I-25) and saw my first coyote just a few weeks ago running down my street. I told my neighbor who ownes a small poodle, and she said she has seen it a few times and never lets her dog out alone. I have a wolf/malmute who spends a fair amount of time outside alone, but...

    MGM Taret Purchase

I don't know about the target you have, but I bought a steel target many years ago that said it could handle 44 mag. It could handle .44 mag, but after a friend of mine shot it with his SKS, it was clear that it was not designed to handle that much power. The target plate was about 1/4" (or...

    Kel-Tec P11 or Ruger SP101 fora CCW?

PF9? I don't want to complicate things, but I traded my P-11 for a PF9 and am happy with my decision. I carry the PF9 IWB using the optional belt clip from Kel-Tec. I've never had any failures with the PF9 since owning (1 year'ish), but have only shot about 500 rounds. It holds 7+1. Scott

    New tactical flashlight?

Costco only? After reading a couple other forums, it looks like this is a Costco only flashlight. My local store had maybe 150 of these "Leatherman Monarch 500" lights on the shelf. Seems like a good light, but maybe not a replacement for a high-end light (Surefire...). I'm amazed at how...

    New tactical flashlight?

Walking through Costco last week I came across a Leatherman flashlight for $30. I have never been all that impressed with LED flashlights (at least the cheap ones), but this one seems to be quite powerful. It claims to have 145 lumens with it's CREE LED, and uses 3 AAA batteries instead of...

    22a and .22 shelf life....

I went to a local gun shop yesterday to find a laser grip for my XD. To my dismay, they cost $275 which was out of my budget. I ended up buying a new S&W 22a for $197 using the cost of ammo as my justification. The grip has some plastic edges where the grip comes together on the inside, but...

    Most gun friendly, beautiful state?

Not Colorado.... Avoid Colorado, it sucks. I suggest TX or FL. Scott
