as it turns out it's a 17-6 4 inch, got it home today and it shoots just great, i don't think this revolver will ever be sold, anyone have any more info on this gun?

just got a call from my father, it's a model 17, so i guess it must be a 17-5 since it's a 4" barrel, he still had the original box that said model 17 on it.

Hi, My father decided to give me his .22 because he has no use for it anymore, his gun permit says S&W M97, as far as i know after a bit of googling there's no such thing as an M97, the serial starts with the letters BEB, anyone know what this is?
