    CZ 457 Varmint 17HMR??

I'll add something here as an FWI. The reason I prefer the heavier barrel is because I have a tremor that makes controlling the lighter rifles a challenge. Otherwise I would get an American. All of my varmint rifles are heavy beasts that can be off putting for other guys. But, I can nail...

    CZ 457 Varmint 17HMR??

I would like to hear from guys with experience shooting this rifle. I have the .22 version of this model and it has been excellent. There is no reason to expect otherwise from the 17HMR caliber, but I like hearing from guys with experience. I've shot my friend's American version and it's...

    Savage model 25

I had a Savage Model 25 .22 Hornet Varminter with a laminate stock. Bought it new. Very pretty gun, but It would not load from the magazine. Took it to my gunsmith and he had the same problem. Sent it back to Savage. After a reasonable wait, I called and the candid CS guy told me they made a...

    Gun show loophole?

Gubmnt passed laws many years ago requiring a location seperate from your home; this to get rid of as many "kitchen table" FFL gun dealers as possible. Such laws were to make it easier for the ATF to police them. Prior to that, friends of mine, retiring police officers, would get the FFL to...

    Gun show loophole?

Of course the end goal for anti-gunners is UBCs. Once that is established, the ATF will be able to write the rules as they see fit and (as it is done with the use of the FISA court, the DOJ, the FBI, etc.,) selectively use the rules against people they don't like.

List of my guns for wife

My buddy, who just died Monday at the age of 88, used to sit at the dining room table with about 6 guns in varying stages of disassembly/repair. His wife would often ask, "How many guns do you have?" As he looked around the table he would reply, "Maybe 6." (He owned dozens)

List of my guns for wife

This is a timely post for me. My 88 year old friend died this morning. A big loss for me. He was a god friend. He was an avid collector and no one knew precisely how many guns he had; many dozen for sure. Three years ago his wife kicked him out along with all his guns; this after he fell and...

Tikka T3X Super Varmint .223 report

All this feedback is encouraging me to forge ahead. I've ordered a Jard trigger, 12oz and will contiune to try different loads and bullets, after the trigger replacement. I've tried 62gr Nosler and. Sierra SP,. Have used 55gr Sierra, and some 77 gr...Sierra I think with Varget. Also used...

Tikka T3X Super Varmint .223 report

Another interesting tidbit about my conversation with the Beretta CS. I told the guy my story about choosing the Tikka SV because it had the 1:8 twist instead of my 1:12 Rem 700 so I could shoot heavier bullets. . He said, "The 1:7 is a better choice for heavier bullets since the 1:8 is kinda...

Tikka T3X Super Varmint .223 report

This is helpful. Did you shoot it before changing to the KRG Chassis? Did you change the trigger? I'll go ahead with trying the Varget load you suggested, since I already have the powder. Thanks.

    Pecar Berlin Rifle scopes

Yes, one of the rifles is a high quality Mauser mode 66. Actually two rifles rolled into one. It is an interchangeable model that has two barreled actions that mount in the same stock. The current set up is a 25-06 with a Pecar, but not clear which one. The alternate barreled action is a .308...

    Pecar Berlin Rifle scopes

I would really appreciate any info you may have regarding these scopes. My brother died last year and these 4 scopes, all sitting atop rifles, are part of the estate. I want to buy them ( and the rifles) from the estate and plan to pay the fair market value. The executor (my niece) will...

Tikka T3X Super Varmint .223 report

I think I promised a report after asking you guys some questions before I bought this rifle. This rifle has excellent fit and finish. I like the stock even though I usually prefer woods. The bolt is smooth as silk and it loads perfectly every time. Given my primary target, prairie dogs at...

Determining age and value of rifle?

I'm eager to get my hands on this rifle. I live 300 miles from it and the owner may be further then that. We'll collide at the same location in May. In the meantime he had sent a few pics, which yielded all the clues I have thus far. One site on line says the actions in the M-70s are "similar"...
