Updates for UT, GA, OK, NV, Nat. Parks

Gary, First, thanks for all you do to keep us informed. It is a real public service. Second, now that many states have permitless/constitutional concealed carry, have you thought about adding a new color to the Handgunlaw.us map? Best regards, Scott

Future of SCOTUS / 2A changed forever

The main thing I want from SCOTUS is a ruling that requires strict scrutiny https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strict_scrutiny for 2A cases.

What goes into the sales price of a firearm in the US?

Only two things affect price: 1. Supply 2. Demand Now cost is another question and is addressed in many of the replies.

NY Times Op-Ed: "Get out of gun control, Apple"

When they came for the 5th Amendment, I said nothing, because I'm not a criminal, so why shouldn't I talk to the police? When they came for the 4th Amendment, I said nothing, because I'm not a terrorist, so what do I have to hide? When they came for the the 2nd Amendment, I said nothing...

    Did My Patriotic Duty Today

Took someone shooting who had never fired a gun, and was inclined toward gun control. She really enjoyed shooting pistols and is talking about taking a CHL class!

Yet again, the AR15 becomes the root cause

I agree with buck460XVR. Now is the time to show respect for the victims and their families. There will be plenty of time for discussing the political implications later. Let's not let the other side drag us into unseemly behavior during a time for mourning. The victims deserve better.

    Kolbe v. Hogan

Thanks for the replies. I've learned some things from them.

    Kolbe v. Hogan

The appeal was reheard en banc by the 4th Circuit on Wednesday. From what I read, the main issue is the level of scrutiny to be applied. This seems to me to be a very important point to be resolved in 2A jurisprudence that was (apparently) not settled by Heller. I have a few questions, if...

    Gary Johnson on Gun Rights

I know all of us are concerned about gun rights in the November election. I just wanted to post a link to Gary Johnson's (presumptive Libertarian Party nominee) position as food for thought. http://www.ontheissues.org/Gary_Johnson.htm#Gun_Control Scroll down to see it. The summary is: -...

    Confused About Maine Concealed Carry

    Thanks Gary!

    Confused About Maine Concealed Carry

My understanding is that Maine passed a law allowing permitless concealed carry, including non-residents, last year. Why do they still maintain a list of states whose permits they honor? Similarly, why does handgunlaw.us show Maine as not honoring NM permits? It seems that is now irrelevant.

Interesting chat with a traffic cop...

I have a heavy foot and drive a sports car so I get to interact with law enforcement every 2-3 years. I am always respectful, even if they are not. Here are my observations from my experience: - State police, regardless of state, are always professional. - Local police are a mixed bag...

    A tipping point?

Given the current Congress, and attempt to use the ATF instead of legislation may harm that agency's budget.

DC One Gun Per Month Law Struck Down

Frank, The court determined that a registration requirement does not infringe the constitution, presumably because it doesn't directly prevent an individual from obtaining and bearing arms. Is there a counter argument that could be used with other appeals courts and SCOTUS? If this...

    Traveling to Canada with firearms....

There is a lot to like about Canada. Gun rights are not part of that though.
