I am not sure why people think the magpul sites are not accurate. I was hitting man sized targets at 375 yards w/ my ar15 no problem. Of course the sights are not mounted on the gas block, but on a midlength free float tube.

Use the correct gun for the job. A .223 with the proper bullet and charge behind it will kill bambi. Maybe not at 200 yards but I would feel fine with any range before that.
We will see how Midway treats me with the ordeal, I am a pretty poor college student right now which is why I am piecing this build together. (it's also fun!)
I'm still lost on the barrel decision...
Well, grabbed a buddies charging handle and things worked perfectly. The difference was very small and we are still not sure why the original one is not working.
Your reading a bit far into it I think, the black hole barrel is certainly an option but as a new builder I am not sure where else to look for quality barrels. I do not want to spend any more than about 250$ on the barrel.
and perhaps now that I think about it 6" really is a little circle at...
Just because there is no AR related stuff in my profile does not mean I am exactly a newbie to the platform, 6 years of Army service....13D In the Arty.
:D
I realize it rides above the bolt but I am confused as to why it would slide smoothly by itself, and the bolt slides smoothly by itself...
Hi all,
I am slowly building an AR rifle piece by piece. So far it has a:
CMMG lower
DPMS lower parts kit
Magpul MOE Stock
Dsa upper
DPMS basic charging handle
CMMG Bolt carrier and Bolt assembly
CMMG Mid-length freefloat tube.
My goal with this rifle is to have a short rifle that...
Leave it in the large jug. Any point of transfer into another container may cause confusion down the road. The humidity should not be an issue if you reload in a relatively climate controlled area.
I have the 11-87 in the police model (3" or 2 3/4" shells with an extended tube and 18.5" barrel). While I love the shotgun it almost refuses to reliably shoot birdshot through it. If I am shooting slugs or buck it does just fine with cycling. Accuracy is spot on and I personally can hit...
9mm Uzi with the collapsible stock version and a short barrel with an optic on top. Only cost about 9K and I could spend the rest of ammo.
Or A B.A.R.
Or a Thompson machine gun :)
I also reload .357, I am sure if you went with a fast progressive loader like a dillon 650 with a motor running it that it could get very hot!
Otherwise, the brass just sucks most of the heat out of everything and the die has more than enough time to cool down.
Jerry Miculek (I spelled that all wrong) has a bunch of videos on the Smith and Wesson website. The one thing I do remember from all the videos was that the best way to grip the revolver is as high as you possibly can to reduce the muzzle rising from recoil. I will see if I can find the videos...
