    .38 Wadcutter Loads...Mistake?

telecaster1981, 2 factors not mentioned but extremely important in using 38 wadcutters are age and condition of the brass and crimp. A lot of shooters seat wadcutters flush with the case mouth and don't crimp. I witnessed a kaboom on a fine Model 15 S&W. Load 3.0 grs of Bullseye and a 148gr...

I need some help on powder measures

Soybomb, If you are going to use a Lee hand loader why not use a set of Lee dippers as well. They have been proven to be very accurate time and again in the trade rags. Scoop, scrape and dump can be done just as fast a using a measure and lots cheaper. As you stated you plan is to use a hand...

    Unique vs. Win 231

I've moved away from both Unique and 231 and now use Power Pistol for all my medium power loads. It burns cleaner (though I never had a problem with Unique) and seems to give more consistent shot to shot velocity. Though I do use heavy for caliber bullets in all my medium loads (180gr LSWC in...

    Small Carry revolver

2 other options you may want to consider. 1 a Kel-Tek P3AT extremely light and surprisingly easy to shoot 2 a Glock 36 conceals better that a stubby and packs a lot more punch for less weight. It weights 4 ozs. less that my Tarsus 605 stubby or a S&W 60/36.

Starting to shop for a snubby.

There are other options besides S&W and Ruger. Tarsus makes an all steel 605 in .357 and the CIA is .38. There are also the various .44 Special stubbies, i.e. Charter Arms, S&W and Tarsus. I carry a Glock 36 (single stack 45 ACP) that actually conceals better in my front pants pocket than a...

Do you carry a BUG? What and where?

Primary is changeable depending on my mood but BUG is either P3AT or Taruas 605 in left front pocket. Exceptions being my Glock 36 that is my single carry favorite and it goes in the left front or an IWB strong side. Federal HydoShocks go in all. 230 gr in the .45 ACPs, 90 gr in the .380 and...

rossi, charter buy or no buy

Haven't used either in .357 but have had a Charter .44 for 20+ years and it's still going strong. I had a Rossi in 44 Special as well and really liked it. Ex-stepson stole it so he must have liked it too. My standard load (7.0 gr Unique and RCBS 250KT) seems to work fine. Records show it's...

Question for Massad Defensability of BU gun or extra ammo

Since a armed civilian doesn't have a mandate to pursue and engage but rather to withdraw from a confrontation it would appear that carrying extra ammo or a backup gun could be construed by disreputable lawyer types as a "Rambo" image or mentality or even impersonation of a LEO. How do you...

    Massad Ayoob Strikes again

Folks, One thing everyone seems to forget is that any round that hits someone or something other that the BG (or after hitting the BG if it goes all the way through) is going to have a bottom feeding lawyer attached to it, a unique attribute to the US. A point Mas has made many times.

How "Gun Friendly" is your place of work?

NOT! Civilian at a government enforcement agency and we don't get to carry. Had an agent do an AD last month and wounded a contractor in the next room. Complained that if they are going to shoot at us we should have the right to shoot back. Didn't go over very well. Something about LEOs...
