My ".40" pushes it's rounds significantly faster than you ascribe above. 180 grain at 1350 fps +. Of course, my .40 is a 10mm auto. If you are really interested in heavy fast bullets from an auto, you should check it out.

Of the powders you list, I would look to Unique or 800X. Unique for mild loads, 800X for wild loads.

Form factor. I think they fit many hands very well. I personally am a fan of the Tanfoglio clones, sold in the US by EAA under the Witness moniker.

Um.... Semi-automatic machine pistol is an oxymoron. A machine pistol by definition is a pistol capable of burst or full auto fire (Glock 18, for example). If it is limited to semi-automatic fire, then it cannot be a machine pistol.

I carry the 165 gr Golden Saber from Double Tap when in two legged country. I carry a 175 gr SWC hardcast that I handload when I head into the mountains. Once some time frees up to experiment, I plan on deciding on a 200-210 grain mold and the 175 will be relegated to practice.
