how about a .311 round ball, seated flush with a dab of alox over your choice of pistol powder? :)
pretty accurate at squerril distances, doesn't destroy them, won't go through the neighbor's house (that's always good) and subsonic if you don't get too greedy with the powder...
oops...dove, you're right. I thought I remembered one commonality between these guns (other than caliber) and that was it. Also, the 24/7 pro c ds no longer comes with the rubber grips on the recently manufactured ones; not sure what the cut off date was. Might've been when they ran out of grips.
The only cautioning I have, is to make sure you buy a NEW one that was manufactured recently. There are myriad issues with the mag followers, nose-diving, stove-piping, etc. Also, there have been issues reported regarding its ability to fire in DA mode; very soft striker strike. - 99.999999%...
cabela's has the plastic boxes as well but they're cheaper at the store (same price as midway). I wouldn't buy them from midway unless you've other stuff to purchase or are planning on buying a lot of them. Shipping + tax might negate the cost effectiveness.
If you've got a cabela's close...
ok, so I screwed up.
I'm a tester by trade and should've known better than to go with my initial measurement.
I replaced the battery in my calipers to ensure I had fresh juice. Cleaned them too, and zero'd out.
I then re-slugged from throat to muzzle and can now say that I was wrong...
ok, here's where we are....
I slugged my barrel and from groove to opposite groove, it slugged at .4660"
The projectiles I'm using are .016" smaller than my bore....gas cutting. :(
Well, crap. Seems I might've figured this out. May NOT have anything to do with hardness afterall. I had to run home (I live an HOUR from work) ugh, and while I was there, I grabbed the caliper's two PMC 230gr FMJ's and, two of my re-loads, and two projectiles...
PMC FMJ's...
OAL: 1.264...
Here's what I'm going to do...
1) slug the barrel
2) hopefully acquire some softer lead bullets form a form member before I go down the money pit of casting.
3) decide from there.
Quo, I ran the calculation, which came out to 16BHN. 18BHN shouldn't make that much of a difference. I didn't see anywhere on their site where the 230gr LRN in .452 is designed for magnum velocity and pressure. Their own site displays this bullet as an option when choosing 45acp - am I...
rcmodel,
Thanks for the guide info, but per their website, 5.1 is the max load (as of today). However, their Min OAL is 1.270. I find that odd since the 45ACP was designed to be 1.265 for the 1911. Granted, I'm not shooting a 1911, but anywho...
Minimum OAL(inches) Bbl Length Primer...
I recently started reloading and shooting rounds for my 24/7 Pro Compact DS .45acp
I've used the following recipe on two batches:
Projectile: Missouri Bullet Company - 230 LRN "softball" .452, BHN=18*
Brass: Assorted between PMC once fired and Winchester, Remington, Speer Range brass (all...
well, I settled on good ol' redot. :) I just finished loading my first 50 on the single stage lee press.
Missouri Bullets: 230gr LRN
CCI 300 primers
5 grains of Red Dot
PMC once fired brass
I have another 100 to do before a trip to the range this weekend. I'll be sure to give a range...
