You might have banana cases, i.e. the cases are bent. Take some that fit on the snug side and look at the case mouth re. the gage. If you see a gap that varies in size, you have banana syndrome.

All three passed that test, admittedly with Portuguese surplus 7.62x51, as I don't have any 30-06 ball.

I bought the bullets from Missouri Bullet Co. They're 18 Brinell and .309" diameter and plain base. They shot fine in my buddy's carbine. But all three of mine shoot patterns. The jacketed bullets shoot just fine. Is it possible that all three have worn barrels?
